    Saiga 12 Cleaning Guide?

Hey All, was just wondering if anyone had a link to a good cleaning guide for the S12?

When I first got my ar15 you tube had some great videos on how to dissasmble and clean it.... but I can't find any of those videos for the s12.

Found one on general dissasembly but didn't know if there where any other parts that need to be cleaned and paid attention to after break down (like dissasembling the bolt carrier, bolt and ejector etc on ar15s).

I don't have the s12 on hand yet (should be picking it up this wekend) but wanted to get familair with what I should expect to clean before hand.

Any links would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

The only things I clean on mine is the gas tube, gas puck, barrel, bolt, hammer. I lube up all the metal to metal contact parts with TW (rails, hammer face, top of bolt, main spring receiver plate.

So nothing more to take apart after the initial take down?

I guess it depends on after how many rounds you run through it. Last time out I only put 50 slugs down range and just did a quick wipe down. If you are shooting 500 or something than you might want to break it down completely. If yours is PG converted it is quite a pain to get everything out and back in, so out of laziness I just do the easy stuff.

it's an AK type receiver. Not much to clean.

You can use any AK cleaning procedures for S12. You just have to do some extra cleaning to the gas ports. Treat it just like an AK with more attention to the gas system.

Every time I clean my S12, I'd find all kind of junks at the gas ports. Shotshells might have quite a bit off loose debris and some get to the gas ports. Plugged gas ports is one of the major FTE problem on S12.
