    Shotgun home defense class?

Hey guys, I've had my shotgun for almost a year now and put about 1000 shells through it. I think its time for me to take a home defense class. I was wondering if you guys know of a good home defense class in SoCal. I'm looking to spend about 200 to 300 bucks on the course it self.

    Thanks,

    Ed

You can buy a first timer's pass for $150? You see tons of them on ebay and here also.

Shotgun self defense is rather basic, even a basic video on Combat Shotgun's could help you. All you need is tip's on your stance, ammo, and defensive/offensive tactics.

I took my Front Sight Class for free since they were running some kind of promotion at the time. You really can pick up a certificate for $100-$150.

They have both 2 day and 4 day classes.

I'm also thinking about taking a shotgun class with them early next year or later this year.

Aim and fire. Don't get shot. Not too complicated.

actually it is kinda complicated...especially the load/unload/reload hit your target don't miss thing.... not like shooting a pistol complicated... more like gee I might die here I better actually hit what I'm aiming at complicated....

we offer a one day class up in the valley but I have taken TJ's one day class and it'll peg your happy meter...

and the price is fair and you will shoot quite a bit...

                      Next class is Oct. 24...

                        Another recommendation for ALLSAFE.

Forgot all about TJ Johnston at AllSafe (shame on me!). TJ is an excellent and highly skilled/knowledgeable instructor; he was my NRA Instructor Training Counselor. His courses are also very reasonably priced.

Try (FTA) Firearms Training Associates. I take thier shotgun class at least once a year.

Just my opinion, but I'd assume home defense is going to be 99% judgment and only 1% technique. When can you shoot, more importantly when should you shoot, do you have a plan, etc.? Those are the biggest issues. If you're going to seek out shotgun training for the express purpose of home defense, I would not waste time on it unless they are going to cover a lot about judgment calls. Of course no learning on almost any subject is ever really a waste in the grand scheme of things. Just might not be the specific knowledge you're seeking.

Combat/tactical shotgun and home defensive shotgun seem like two different beasts to me. IMHO of course.
