    870 Express Compact

Are the Remington 870 Express parts interchangeable? ie, could an Express Compact (20ga) be "converted" to a 26-28" 12ga?

No it can not be converted to a 12 ga as they are different receivers.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

JD, Are the 20 gauges built on the small frame? It would be way too much to do but a small frame reciver could probably be made up in any of the small gauges......Some 20's were on the larger 12 ga reciver too.

Yes, the 20ga Express is now considered the lightweight receiver and the serial number will end in the letter "U" Another lightweight ends in the letter "K" and also includes the model 1100 LT 20 ga. The Heavy frame 20ga ones end in the letter "X" and the Heavy frame Magnum 20ga receiver ends in the letter "N". what is cool is the heavy frames can use 12 ga stocks.
