    Age of my 870 Wingmaster

How would I go about finding the age of my 870? It was given to me by my parents when I was a teenager to hunt. It was used and older then but just curious as to how old it really is.
    Any help is appreciated!

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

      See if this works

Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Email Remington directly with your Serial ##.

        I got a response within 3 days.

There are some codes listed online, but I once called the remington 1-800 service number and went thru a menu tree to records dept. or something like that. A real live person looked it up and verified my model and date of manufacture.

Ditto, A very friendly woman gave me the date of one of my Model 11's. Took about 5 minutes. Your 870 may have a 3 digit date code on the barrel, but that only works if the barrel is original to the gun.
