Got me a Mossberg 500

Big 5 was having a Mossberg sale last week so I picked up the Mossberg 500 Persuader 8 shot 20" barrel for $270. Did I choose the right home defense gun?

Yes you did good, you cant go wrong with the Mossberg 500
I have a Mossy 500 that is 20yrs old and has never had a malfuntion.

I have the same gun with the factory heatshield and in parkerized finish. The extra capacity obviously adds a little extra weight compared to the 5+1 18.5" Mossberg 500, but an extra couple of rounds make me sleep better at night, knowing this was going to be primary HD weapon.

The only downside to the 20" barrel persuader is, the barrel is not interchangable with other Mossberg 500 barrels, as the mounting ring for the mag tubes are in different positions on the barrel, so you can't change it into a bird/ skeet gun.

The Mossberg 500 range are great HD shotguns with 48 years of "track record", as well as being the only shotgun credited to have passed the US Army's Mil-Spec 3443E test.

I bet it won't be long before someone chimes in with "You should have bought a Remington 870".

I have the same one you do Nodaedul. Congrats, it's an awesome gun.

I'll post this to anyone who has that gun, you might have issues with disassembly due to flashing on the stock, it apparently catches the trigger assembly and makes it impossible to take out the trigger assembly without loosening or removing the stock. I'm gonna have it checked by a smith to see what can be done.

The 870 did look pretty nice but it cost quite a bit more. My Mossberg 500 should do just fine. Can't wait to pick it up next week!

Nope not my first gun but it is my first tactical shotgun. After doing some reading around here I am tempted to use this as a "trunk gun".

good choice I have 2 of them 1 pistol grip and the other one I use for skeet/birds and they both work great!
