did you use the search button? Guess not...

With a maglock they are legal in two configurations.
    1) pistol grip, maglock and NO folding stock
    2) folding stock, maglock, and NO pistol grip

If you change the furnature or switch out the mag for a US version, you must play the 922r game.

    Next time search, please. Thanks!

Hi Alex, in its original configuration, the Saiga 12 is an AW because it a semi-automatic shotgun with a detachable magazine. If you put a maglock on it so that it does not have a CA-defined "detachable magazine", then it is legal.

There are also other configurations that would make it an AW. Run it through the shotgun legality chart for more info, http://www.calguns.net/caawid/sgflowchart.pdf

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Saiga 12's are nice and I'd love to get one when budget allows....all kinds of aftermarket goodies available...the Tromix Shark Muzzle Brake looks Badass!

This is a great site even with the search first cracks....often a search using the CG search feature results in nothing or 57 pages of results. Maybe try using the Google Site: search funtionality, details on use on Google of course....

You probably can find a dealer more knowledgeable on the topic that won't steer you wrong next time.....

i started searching and the ones i looked at were not answering my questions i was a bit fast on posting the question but , thanks to a lot of you guys point me in a right directions. Good to know its a CA legal. It seems like its great gun and it will be even better after the build up. Which i think with all the aftermarket goodies and the prices will be manageable in this economy. Ill post it as soon as i get one. thanks again

Do yourself a favor, with a maglock, a saiga 12GA is legal..

Take a days drive, and get yourself up to JK Supply in Ione and he will take care of you BS free.

                          Hey,
Make sure you check with some of our vendors for a S12. For example I know peach state guns that is a vendor here was selling a s12 with a BB for $599 shipped! of course if you want to convert it to the ak type style you have to mod it and do some other things.

Use this search it maybe more helpful

Hello, this is my first post and I didn't want to make my own thread so I hope you guys don't mind if I piggyback on this one. But, I've been lurking around here for a few months now. I was wondering if a Saiga 12 in the following configuration is legal in California. I have a pretty good grasp on what's legal for rifles but I'm not sure if it is the same for shotguns.

                            Mag Lock
                            Pistol Grip
                            Telescoping Stock
                            Tapco G2 Trigger Group
                            10 round mag

This should be 922r compliant. I also read on the saiga12 forums that a >5 round mag made in the USA (but max of 10 rnd for CA) can be used on a stock saiga 12 if it doesn't have a threaded barrel since the max foreign parts count is 10 (swapping out the mag is -3). However, if you do have a threaded barrel then you have to swap another part for a US one in order to use 10 rnd mags. This is something that I was worried about and I just wanted to let any other prospective buyers know. Thanks.
