    2 saiga 12 questions

On a converted saiga with pistol grip can you add a forward grip?

Is there any way to tell if a s12 is a "vodka special" while its still in the shop before a purchase? i know it has something to do with the gas ports but unsure what to look for...

yes ive searched and the shotgun flowchart dont seem to be workin for me...?

Yes, a forward grip is fine providing you don't have a collapsible stock. Note that if you have a collapsible stock you cannot have a PG either (it's PG/vert grips OR coll. stocks). I'll assume converted means that it is also converted to be 922(r) compliant.

Don't know about Vodka specials, someone else will chime in I'm sure.

It is fairly easy to tell if it's a vodka special - as long as the store you are purchasing it from is cool with you molesting it a bit. You need to unscrew the plug on the front of the gas block, drop the piston "puck" out and shine a flashlight down the gas tube. Right towards the front of the tube (near the threads you just exposed) you will see 2, 3 or 4 holes. If it is difficult to tell right there you can look down the barrel while shining a light through the gas tube and see how many beams of light are making it through. AND you can also take a bent paper clip and just poke around the area to see if there is any blockage.

I got a vodka special that only had two holes that were partially obstructed by the gas block. That kinda sucked, but RAA is VERY good about covering the warranty work through Cadiz Gun works. It's free to ship it there and you get it back in less than a month.

Good choice on shotguns - they are VERY fun to shoot!

Buy from CGW, they have already checked the gun out, and if needed, fixed it.

+1, It will arrive and you wont have any worries about it not working properly.
Also, i have read someplace that you really cant tell if you have a vodka special, the only way is to purchase and test fire!

^^ +1 on CGW. Tom and Vicki are both a class act and want california gun owners to enjoy S12's like all of the other states have been. I haven't had as much fun with any gun like I have had with my S12. Even though it had a few hiccups, I honestly haven't laughed like that in a long time. It's just too damn fun.
