    Remington 11-48...

So, I just picked up this C&R Remington 11-48 shotgun last night...
Its an old evidence gun that was liquidated to a local FFL. Its an interestting conversation piece to say the least!

I don't know much about the 11-48 shotgun.

Can anyone point me in a direction for parts? Info about the series? Etc...
Interested in any interesting tid-bits about this series.

    Thanks in advance.

I have one with a cut barrel I keep in my toy hauler. Kicks pretty hard.
If you did not know about this, grab the end of the barrel and push it down towards the receiver. That's the recoiling barrel action design.

From what I have found this thing is deeply dependant on recoil to cycle properly. Stance is supposedly the trick to make it run 100%.

A friend gave me his (16ga) that would fire as soon as a round was chambered. It was unnerving to say the least! Fortunately when it happened the shotgun was pointed in a safe direction, all protocols were being followed. I took it down and found that the trigger group had been assembled incorrectly and fixed that problem. It also had a problem with the empties sticking in the chamber when it got hot, almost like the plastic was melting to the metal. I'd need a rod to poke them out. The first 25 were no problem but after that the empties would stick. I think it would've liked the paper hulls better.

I've put a few thousand rounds through my .410 without any issues. I picked up a beater 12g 11-48 a couple years ago but, I have yet to shoot it. They are really fun guns once you get used to the recoil and how they cycle. I'll try to email you a PDF of the owner's manual.

I had a 12 ga a few years ago and was able to get parts from numrich. I still have the gun minus the barrel if you need parts.

mjsweims: I might just take you up on that.
Seems that parts can be a daunting task. I recently discovered that some 870 and 1100 parts fit it. Seriously considering an upgraded bolt handle...

I have one my father left me. I have shot it a few time. It has a Polychoke on it and I have had no problem with it. If you need a manual look on the Remington website and you will be either able to download or request a copy. I forget which.
