    Normal Wear?

Using a picture posted by another member.
I recently went looking at shotguns and decided on the Remington 870 Security from big 5. When i was examining the chamber i noticed marks/nicks located where the arrow points in this picture -

Now i havent been able to find any clear pictures of 870's chambers to see if its normal wear. However, in that picture it does seem like there might be some wear.

Just wanted to hear from some owners of the Remington to see if they too have some wear in that spot. My guess its from breech face slamming when pumping the shotgun.

Can't really see it. It is on the barrel so can you take the barrel off and get a better picture?

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

I that is somekind of gun shop and they are allowing customers to rack the weapon then yes, over time there will be some marks. The pictures of that weapon show it has been being racked. Not a good idea to keep racking one right of box with out lubing it up and checking it first. I would say that what you are looking at may very well be normal on a display model. I would not know as I will not allow that in my shop.

Thanks for the replies aippi. Yeah Big 5 does allow customers to rack the guns and it was a display model.
Its been on display for quite some time i supose. Hopefully it wont cause any functioning issues.

Where that arrow is pointing almost looks like the feed ramp. Or where the feed ramp would be. I looked at my very old model 870 Wingmaster from 1979 and it too has a wear mark there.. it's normal. I have thousands of rounds through mine.. no detriment.
