    M887 vs 870 vs 1187

I'm thinking about getting a shotgun and for the longest time I've always wanted the 870 express super mag. I'll probably never shoot 3.5" shells but I guess I've told myself I'm better off having it and not needing it than the opposite.

Now I saw the new M887 which looks like an upgraded (rustproof) version of the 870 so I figure why buy a used one when for a little bit more I can get the brand new one. The reduced recoil thing sounds a little exaggerated but I've never shot a shotgun.

The 11-87 is because I'm probably going to do mostly trap. Don't know people who duck hunt and I don't know the first thing about it or what it takes.

If you are not hunting the water foul the 3.5 is not really needed. Any 870 is a better option then risking the new 887. Let other find out if the weapon is worth it. They can be the "Test Dummy" and within a year of reading these post we will all know if the 887 is the mistake I believe it to be. I can do not trust the poly coat on the 887 and suspect it is going to as big a mistake as the poly coat on the 870 tacticals. If I knew how to post pictures I can show you how easy the poly coat peels off an 870. they can call it what they want but it is still the same coating and I suspect it is going to cause headaches for Remington. But since I refinish 870 for a living it is certainly going to be a bost to my business and others.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

The 870 supermag is what I wanted FOREVER!!!

I didn't think I'd need the 3.5" shell anyways but figured since it's about the same price why not get it. The Wingmaster was just cuz it was a semi auto and I've been told they recoil a little less and maybe it would be a better beginner gun.

I'll have to keep that in mind. I don't see too many used 870 supers for sale these days.
