    Saiga-12 customization

I am looking for suggestions on a Saiga-12 build out for home defense with these ideal parameters (which I know are not realistic):

    Overall length is 26.5"
    Barrel length is 18.5"
note: half inch just to be "safe"
Muzzle brake that actually works to reduce recoil and muzzle flip included in barrel length, thinking Tromix
Shortened fixed stock with a recoil "absorber" of some type. Maybe modify a Spec Ops stock?
Recoil should only be slightly more than a .22
Rail for laser optic close to bore
Fix to not have top shotgun shell in mag to deform if loaded
Fix to easily load another mag
Obvious bullet button or similar device for fixed mag
    Sling swivels

Sample setups that are similar out there? There is a limit to how "short" the stock can be plus the barrell would need to be cut, rethreaded, and the muzzle brake permanently attached to hit the length requirement.

    Maybe a custom short stock?

Just looking for suggestions or if someone has a CA compliant config built that is close to this.

Thanks for the pic, it has part of it, but this is too long and no muzzle brake.

The Tromix break (shark style) will do nothing for recoil. I learned that from experience.

Well . . . to have an 18.5" bbl AND a muzzle brake . . . you'd need an 07 FFL w/ SOT to chop it down for you and perm install the brake, because the gun will be an SBS in the mean time.

In theory, I assume I could disassemble the saiga to just the barrel only and then chop it, but I would take this to a gunsmith anyway. I wouldn't shoot anything I took a saw to...

You would still have a constructive possession SBS.

And I want to know how you are planning to have it recoil less than a .22...that just isn't possible.

True enough, I would have to buy the barrel only first, modify it. THEN purchase the Saiga-12, disassemble and then reassemble with new barrel.

Much safer and simpler to just let the licensed gunsmith do it.

                      T'is a challenge

There are some vids on youtube which show configurations with surprisingly little recoil actually. Maybe it is worth it to just buy those highly customized Saigas... None of them have been modified to use recoil reducing stocks though, done with muzzle brakes and actual hard mods to the gun itself

Well for a defense gun you are going to have to find a balance between weight/maneuverability and the features you want.

A rail with a foregrip will help with being able to double tap accurately, but it will add quite a bit of weight.

So far for mine I have a normal conversion with SAW grip and the Chaos Quad and the Chaos Warthog Brake.

Sounds like you also want a magwelled S12, but with the bullet button in the way it will be a challenge.
