Palmetto State Armory 570 pump-action shotgun

I'm actually excited about this and wanting to get my hands on one.

It's as if Palmetto State Armory took a Mossberg 500 and a Remington 870, then made them mate and produce an offspring, which is the Palmetto State Armory 570.

The do it yourself aspect and fully user serviceable aspect is very appealing.

Damn, I bet RemArms or whatever they're called these days, and Mossberg are not liking this. Looks really interesting and I like PSA.

      A thought just hit me...

Because of Palmetto State Armory plans on selling every part by itself, which includes the receiver...

A CA resident could acquire the receiver (4473 = other / DROS = long gun, other, receiver) and then submit an ATF Form 1 to make an AOW to BATFE.

Once it is approved, the CA resident could use that receiver to make a CA legal Title 2 AOW.

This could be a less expensive and easier to make AOW option for CA residents.

          Yes, with BATFE approval.
^Form 1 to make ($200 tax stamp) or Form 4 to transfer ($5 tax stamp).

Title 2 AOW are the closest thing to a short barreled shotgun that regular people can legally acquire and own in CA.

          Under CA laws...

Title 2 AOW do not require a CA DOJ Dangerous Weapons Permit in order to legally import, make, transfer, or possess in CA.

Title 2 AOW are not exempt from CA assault weapons laws and CA unsafe handgun laws.
^Which means they need to be configured in a manner that does not violate CA assault weapons laws and they need to be acquired in a manner that does not violate CA unsafe handgun laws.

The only Title 2 AOW that are outright banned in CA are pen guns. [PC 17710(c)]

PSA had some awesome announcements at SHOT this year.

Not that I need another AOW but hey, if it?s easier, why not, haha!!

                  Interested, and I am patient.

FWIW, I've owned a 12" Rem 870 AOW since 2015. I rarely shoot it, it's a fairly useless firearm unless you put a Crimson Trace sidesaddle laser sight on it. Once you add that laser, you can actually sight in on and hit things without raising it to your face to aim, which is extremely hard to do otherwise with an AOW. There are a few videos on YouTube with people who have taught themselves how to bring an AOW to their cheek to sight down the barrel using the push/pull technique, but with no shoulder or stock to soak up recoil, I don't like that idea.

I believe this method is taught by Demonstrated Concepts.
I believe it was originally used for large format pistols (AR pistols, AK pistols, MAC pistols, etc), then they applied to Title 1 Other "shockwave" type firearms.

Yeah, I've watched those videos. Too much hassle, time and trouble for me, it's a muscle memory and technique thing that I don't want to do.

It's funny, in a SHOT video where Mossberg show off some Shockwave-sized breacher shotguns ordered by "mystery" SF guys, the birds head grip gun has a short piece of rope on the grip, just like the guy in the videos uses.

If I were going to make an AOW, I would try the ordinary pistol grip. It's not as concealable as the Shockwave grip, but a lot more controllable.

My AOW came with a pistol grip, it was awful. Bad angle on your wrist and because you have no stock, shoulder pad or shoulder to transfer the kinetic energy of the recoil to, with the pistol grip, you are transferring all of that energy to your wrist and forearm. I shot it once with the pistol grip and immediately ordered the birdshead grip.
