What the heck is this thing?

Any idea of what this double barrel is? It has Fox M.B. crudely stamped on the side but I'm pretty sure it's not a Fox or Savage Fox.

This is likely a Stevens 315

A hammerless double barrel shotgun with J Stevens Arms Company Chicopee Falls Mass patented April 20 1915.

The way to tell what model it was,by the length of the upper tang. The model 315 has a 2 5/8" Tang and a model 515 has a Tang of 2 7/8".

The model 315 and the shotgun from the J Stevens name was made between 1915 and 1936.As far as the value goes, between $250.-$400.

Info stolen from the web! Hope it helps!

That's identical to a Stevens "Ranger" model. I just chopped one to 19.5", and disabled the automatic safety for a friend

Having just wokred on it a day ago, I can say the receiver is **identical** to the stevens, with the possible exception of the large flat head screw on the left side.
