    Browning A5 20 Gauge

I have an opportunity to buy a 1966 round knob Browning A5 20 gauge, 28? ribbed barrel with a modified choke. This is a one owner shotgun that has been well taken care of. The stock is in excellent condition (no cracks) as is the metal and bluing. The owner wants $1500 and it is not negotiable. I don?t need another shotgun and have previously owned a half dozen A5?s. I think that if I don?t buy it I?ll never see another like this one.

    Buy or not buy?

I sincerely doubt that the barrel is 28 inch barrel. But if it is then yes the price is justified. Typically the barrel is 25 or 26 inch measured from the barrel extension. Round knob suggests it is a Belgian built A5 and is highly sought after.

I passed up a ducks unlimited version in 20 gauge and regret it.

Like most A5?s the barrels are a little shorter than stated on the barrel. It actually measures out to 27.5 inches which is even better in my opinion. Yes, Belgian.

OK, that gun is definitely worth that money as long as it is in pristine condition. Buy it! 20 ga. A5's are Highly Desirable Guns!

You are always looking for post 1963 A5's as they have the 2 piece Lifter/Speed Feed Feature which is what makes them so desirable. They are faster to load that any other shotgun out there,,, then or now!

I have a 1964 made Light Twelve with Full and Modified Barrels and it is 99% Perfect because my favorite Uncle gave it to me in 1995 and it had only had 22 rounds ran thru it at that time. He bought it in 1965, and it has lived in it's case for its entire life (58 years!." and other than a belt buckle ding in the stock it is otherwise Perfect. Now it has got about 500 thru it and the Full Choke Barrel is unfired. It is in the Browning case and even has the Owners Manual. I don't shoot it often because I have another one that is my Tactical Gun and not as good condition. I also have a Cutts Compensator barrel that I can run on it for Skeet if I wanted to.

I would not sell mine cuz it was a condition of him giving it to me. But unless my only nephew gets interested in Hunting I will have to sell it eventually. Right now the price is $2500! Non negotiable.

If that 20 ga. is in this condition and had the case and the extra barrel it would be worth $2500 as well. Barrels for these guns are running $400-500 on Ebay.
