    1959? Wingmaster Police Setup

I have this older Wingmaster which I have always believed to be from 1959.. When they introduced the 20 inch Rifle Sights.

Serial number has the V 2 3/4" SUFFIX and no letter prefix (pre 1968)?

Barrel has, what I believe, a date code of OF.. July 1959?

    Am I interpreting these correctly?

Close up of receiver shows older silver spoon

Never had jamming with this silver spoon

No pitting... Just magnified dust on receiver

Don't know why it rotates some of the pictures.

That gun may have had the Vang Comp Process done to the barrel.

Look and see if it has got 31 1/16th holes on either side of the front sight.

If it does you've got a Real Combat Shotgun. It also looks new?

It's the standard 20" rifled slug rifle sights barrel as in the attached old Remington law enforcement ad.

Yes, it's as new. Was a decades long safe queen

Pretty cool gun! As you know Hans Vang was the Guru of Police Shotguns and he probably only modded 10,000+or more of that exact same gun with his barrel mods.
If you decide to go that route just send the barrel and let me know so I can grease the process with Cody.

I wouldn't do anything more to That gun, it is kind of special..

                I won't. had it a long time.

Had a nice 590 A-1 as well and was debating keeping it and selling the Wingmaster since I only needed one shotgun.

But decided the opposite and sold the Mossy because I'm old school and prefer the older traditional all steel rifles, handguns and shotguns

Both reliable. No jamming with the old Wingmaster lifter

When did the lifters become problematic? I have a 70s Wingmaster and an express with police internals. I changed the extractors and Vang choked one of them. Both very smooth cycling and with steel trigger guards. I've never really understood about that lifter. Never had them jam. I've had 5 iterations of this model over the years. My neighbor and BFF was head shotgun coach at front sight Bakersfield and Pahrump for five years. He would always use a $199. Mossberg 500 off shelf of Big 5 while teaching his classes. He emphasized that it was 95% as good as any gear gayed $1000. auto gun. On 4day classes he would call out the subgun class and have very competitive matches on end of 4th day and most days his pumpgun students would win! Larry Renner was known as PlusPProficiency for many years in Southern California.

The vast majority of the High End Auto Shotguns you see here will never even get broke in.

Don't know about the new owners of Front Sight. I haven't been there since Apr of last year before the transition took place. I have got to go this year in the fall to see if it is worth continuing. We'll have one more year after this to continue as FS members before we have to join the new outfit.

I'm not convinced that this new outfit is going to survive. I haven't seen anything yet to suggest that they will? YMMV

You can say what you want about Piazza, but he kept that place afloat for 25+ years, and I got my Monies worth many times over.

It was the Best Gun Training Facility in the World. I already miss it! ;>(

Yes I agree. He was a marketing genius and I always paid minimum and got my monies worth. He still has some equity interest and his wife is on salary. My buddy says that 10-15 yrs back they would have earth moving trucks and loaders moving stuff around aimlessly just so the members thought there was construction going on. He was the Walmart of gun training facilities and the envy of all. Caveat emptor!
