Need help finding a magazine extension for a 18'' 870

    Hey,
I just recently purchased an older Remington 870 on consignment at Far West here in Santa Barbara (great buncha guys). I got a pretty good deal on an 18'' barrel for it, but I am having a hard time finding a magazine extension for that barrel length. Most I've found say 18 1/2'' barrel length as a minimum, with the exception of Choate. I don't want a cheap plastic one, but I need something that will safely fit my short barrel. I could have sworn I saw 7 round extenders for an 18'' barrel, or do the ones that say 18.5'' work for my barrel length (is that 1/2 inch negligible?). Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction.

All of the 870 aftermarket tube extensions are made for the older 18.125" bbl like yours. They will be a little shorter than the end of the barrel. The factory Rem tube extension will extend past the muzzle 3/8" and fit flush with the newer 18.5" barrels that Remington is now putting on their defense tactical shotguns. All have 6+1 cap.

Choate, Wilson & Nordic Comp aluminum tube extensions are all good. I would probably go with the Wilson for what you get for the money.

That's good price for a Remington Factory Tube Extension Kit.

www.davesmetalworks.com will make you an extension as long as you want it.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Wait, are pump shotguns or semi auto shotguns exempt from 10 round? because it is a tubular magazine.

That would be awesome. Blaze around in a 15+1 magazine tube lol..

I got a wilson combat +2 from www.midwayusa.com. Its awesome. It kinda, clicks itself in when you tighten it, so even without loc-tite you feel confident the extension itself will not loosen.

I had a tacstar previously, and would loosen all the time, like after the first round, so I had to upgrade. Honestly, I would've gone OEM remington, but I couldn't find one. But the Wilson is very well made and I it hasn't loosened on me at all, not ONCE since it has been on (Around 150 rounds shot w/ new extension).
