Rem 870

I've been looking for a new 870 express, and have heard that Big 5 is the way to go. They seem kinda expensive at Big 5 though... Any recommendations for other places to look?

Shop around, try to find a good old used Wingmaster for $500.

Seem the Express was introduced back in 1987 with the cheaper Matte Finish.

I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that ALL 870s prior to 1987 were basically Wingmasters. (Blued finish)

1984, Remington produced their 4th Millionth 870.

There are plenty of used Pre -87 Wingmasters floating around. Just gotta look.

Most distributors have a deal on the 870 express right now.. 90% of shops that carry the gun are selling it for a very low price - of course how low depends on the shop itself. Regardless, you can barely walk into a gun store and find an 870 express for over $350 right now.. shouldn't be too hard to track one down for a good price. Keep in mind, thats down from minimum $375-$400 and up 2 months ago.

I figured its only fair to mention that with the deal price comes a catch. These sale guns only come with one choke, a Modified. The dealers who currently have these sales going on generally don't have the 'normal' stock 870s which come with 3 chokes (Improved, Modified, Full). So ultimately, its not much of a sale, but more of less a somehow even more cut-down (And cheaper) option of buying an 870 (Hey thats what the express was made for!). I've noticed that most shops really tend to either carry one package or the other, not both, so if you want 3 chokes, you'll pretty much be paying the full price whether or not you buy aftermarkets or the more expensive package. If you are fine with just a Mod choke, this is a great deal.
