870 Jamming---Please Help Diagnose

My 1st 870 express, security model, 18in.
Shot over 1000rds.. NO FTEs, etc.

My 2nd 870 express, 28in.
Shot over 500+ rounds shooting Trap.
3-5 FTEs for each Trap session.
Problem went away after Polishing the chamber with Steel Wool 3 times.
Every 100rds i'll get one hang up, but i blame that on cheap ammo.

also bought a Used/NIB 28in barrel at shotgunworld.com for my 1st 870 (the 18in security model). this is my loaner for Newbies into the realm of Trap and Skeet. the used barrel came off a Super Magnum (3 1/2in). NO FTEs with this barrel.

Both my 870s got rusting problems on receiver and barrels.
Hopefully the Eezox will fix that problem.

Remington or who ever makes the barrels are probably not changing the tooling out as often as they should to save on tooling cost. Dulling worn reamers cut rougher under size chambers. That's why some have no problems and some do.

But who knows for sure. Remington has known about this problem for a while now.

FWIW, I bought an 870 express 12ga back in February that has been flawless. Not a single jam or failure to eject. It's as smooth as butter.

MAX100 may be onto something about the tooling. As for the receivers, I've read that Remington still uses the same machines to make them that they've been using for many years.

+1 to everyone saying it's a new gun issue. Cycle a few hundred rounds through it and I am sure you will see this problem go away. It did for me after about 400 rounds. The action is now like butter on hot asphalt... yeah.

Its a known problem with winchester Universal value pack ammo as sold by Walmart.
