    Kudos to Pacific Sporting Arms...

I am taking off for Argentina in a few weeks for a red stag hunt followed by a 3 day dove hunt.

I did not want to use my 20 gauge Aya side by side for this due to high volume of shooting not to mention it has a full wood stock and no recoil pad.

So, I ordered a Bennelli ETHOS Cordoba BE.S.T in 20 gauge, figured an inertia driven shotgun would be better for high volume shooting.

Take it out to the range to test, about every 6-10 rounds I would get a misfire. Not even a mark on the primers of the rounds. I call Pacific Sporting Arms and they suggested trying better ammo than the Winchester white box I was using. So, I go again the following week and start using Winchester AAs. Worse results, misfire every 4-5 rounds and again not even a mark on the primers. Same shells would fire the next time around.

Well, I took the gun back. They said I could have their gunsmith look at it but no guarantees. Instead they offered to trade it for a Beretta A400 even though the Beretta listed a couple of hundred dollars higher.

I filled the DROS paperwork and picked it up 10 days later, and so far no issues.

I can't imagine Turner's or another store volunteering to exchange firearms especially with the paperwork involved.

So, again kudos to Pacific Sporting Arms and Jordan Hirschi, the manager.

    Great shop.

I love checking out the Blaser rifles.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.

I know the Benelli (perhaps different trim, but they're all the same guts) is popular in the Argentina dove fields. I have the Montefeltro, but if I was planning to shoot a few cases a day I might go for the Cordoba. Do they still have those?

The A400 should be good. Before the switch to Benelli, I think a lot of the house guns were 303's, 390's, etc.

I think you bought your other recent $hotguns there, so yeh, I can see them doing this for you.

The Benelli Cordoba BEST lists at $2399, and the 20 gauge Beretta a400 guns all seem to list around $1800-1900.

Are you sure they treated you fairly on this trade?

I bought a Beretta from Pacific Sporting Arms maybe 10 years ago. I?ve never been to a place of business where the workers took such good care of their customer. And I don?t mean just gun stores. I mean any place of business. I went into the store knowing I wanted a semi-auto shotgun but wasn?t quite sure what to get. Two employees spent 30 minutes with me asking questions, educating me, and ultimately helping me to find a shotgun that worked well. I must have tried on 8 different guns before I decided on the Beretta. They were absolute pros dedicated to customer service and dedicated to helping me find what I was looking for.

I still have that Beretta and shoot it fairly regular. It?s one of my facottguns to shoot.

Pacific Sporting Arms - a great, great, great gun store.

When it comes the sporting shotguns, there's no place like PSA. Jordan and the boys will treat you like the Chanel takes care of your girlfriends.

I paid a lot less than the list price of the Benelli.

I think you were getting the infamous Benelli Click. This is when the action does not fully close and is out of battery. Some Benellis suffer from it more than others. I have an M2 in 20 gauge that works very well, but some are more susceptible to this than others. I think that Ethos and SBE3 have had the bolt modified to prevent it from not going fully into battery and causing that click. Well I think that the Beretta A400 is a great shotgun and it does not suffer from that. It is also softer shooting, but maybe a little heavier. My 12 gauge A400 is a great shooting gun that does not need constant cleaning. I would concur that PSA is a great place to shop. They are really the best place to go for a shotgun.

I might give them a visit to get my browning fitted to me.

What can i expect to pay for this kind of service?

Common enough it became a word.

Alright all you experts. I have been reading the Benelli forum and I am seeing references to "Benelli Click". For the less educated among us, what is "Benelli Click"? I have almost 1000 rounds throught my M2, no issues, but I'm curious. Thanks.

                        Ditto on Jordan !!!

I got my CXS there and got a Screamin' Deal along with a Screamin' Trade in on my XT.

IMHO it is the only place to shop for a Sporting Shotgun.

Sorry to hear about the cordoba but glad the shop took care of you. Hopefully, they’ll send that gun back to Benelli. The cordoba was made for high volume shooting like the doves of Argentina and to have it misfire is no bueno.

Although I have never shot dove, my 12G Cordoba has worked flawlessly and has taken a fair amount of ducks with 3” shells and plenty of clays with the cheapest of cheap 2 3/4” Walmart specials.

OP, enjoy your hunt and we expect a full report upon your return!

PSA is by far the best place to deal with when it comes to shotguns. I loved going to their annual open house days before covid. Fun place to go to see some really high end product! Hopefully they start that back up as I travel from San Diego just for that day.
Jordan is really good at treating customers right. John made an excellent choice in putting him as manager.

I have been fielding a Beretta A400 Xtreme 12 gauge for duck for the past 9 seasons but in the past year I?ve bought 3 Benelli shotguns, two SBE III in Timber Optifade, one 20 for my son?s Christmas gift and one 12 for myself, and I also purchased a Raffaello Super Sport Performance Shop which was the previous SSPS to the Ethos but has a steel rib vs. the Ethos’ carbon fiber rib. All of them were new guns and all three have run perfectly and with a small stock shim adjustment on the SBE?s shoot point of aim, the Raffaello has a 30 inch barrel and is an absolute terror on the sporting clay field without any adjustments, it?s perhaps the best semiautomatic shotgun I?ve ever used for the clays game.

Benelli gets a bad rap often and certain ?esteemed? shotgun writers have been riding them pretty hard, Randy Wakeman is one of them, but my experience has been excellent and my son absolutely loves his 20 SBE III and killed dozens of duck with it in the closing weeks of this past season. Every manufacture since the dawn of manufacturing has had their issues, how they handle them separates the good from the not so good. I know a gentleman on a shotgun forum that bought an Ethos SSPS just a week after I bought my Raffaello and we compared notes as we were getting time on our new guns, he was having ejection problems and returned his Ethos to the factory service office here in the US and they had it back to him in 6 weeks and he has put 750+ rounds down the pipe since with little a hiccup.

Although I do enjoy my Benellis a great deal, I also enjoy shooting my Berettas, and my Brownings, and my Remingtons, and my Winchesters, and my Rizzini, and my Parkers, Ithica, L.C. Smith and a few others too and now I?ve got the itch for a Krieghoff K-80 with engraving. Guess what shop is the only Krieghoff dealer in California. Hint, I will be giving Jordan a visit next month.

                              Damn, whatta hobby, a boys
