RX shooting glasses for clay games

Time for a new optical prescription and looking at getting a pair of dedicated sporting clays shooting glasses. Those little clay flying discs just are not as sharp as in the past and I figure it is time.

I am assuming single focus (distance) and tinted. Anything else?

Suggestions for an ophthalmologist that is in the Irvine/OC area that works with shooters?

Tint color for day time shooting at Raahauges?

Anything else I need to think about/ or ask the ophthalmologist?

    Thanks

I have used Progressive Lenses for the last 12 years and have a pair dedicated as my shooting glasses.

If you don't already wear Progressives there will be a learning curve to get used to them, but after that you'll never go back to bifocals or trifocals or anything else.

Just make sure that the Opto knows to set the Sweet Spot of the Lenses in the proper position when your head is on the comb of the stock where it normally is. That way you won't be raising your head off the comb to get into focus.

Yeah I have worn progressive lens for the past 10 years or so, but want a single focus pair for shotgunning. I agree progressive lens are the way to go for every day glasses.

I have been in touch with Morgan optical and they not only have the style I want, but are reasonably priced. Now I just need to set an appointment to get a new prescription.

I went with WileyX (Saber I think). They use a prescription insert. Bifocal, but I had the close lens set as low as possible. If I need to see something close, I can, but well out of the way for any shooting. There's about 5 colors of "shields"you can snap on.

Am I understanding correctly, Lenscrafters will make lenses for Oakley frames?

Oakley and LensCrafters are both owned by Luxotica, a mega-conglomerate that has a near monopoly on many areas of the optical industry.

They don't make them there, they do all the measurements and oakley does the work, just had another pair ordered on Friday up to 10 days out can't wait.

Picked up sone ANSI sport spectacles from Zenni. Get your prescription than plug in your numbers and shop for a style you like.

I have only used them for single issue with minor defect correction. No idea how well transitions or multi-focal/progressives turn out.

I'd stay away from progressives for shotgunning.

Like I said, distance with a very low bifocal for any close work.

I had my opthomologist make me some amber shooting glasses. We discussed
aim point and focus between front and rear sights.
