    I also picked this up, benchmark of shotguns but not as interesting as 1897

      If I remember correctly around WW1 they started making the shell interrupter a push button on both sides. The ones prior to that (like yours) had external screws holding the interrupter in place.

      Just looked up my serial number range. It’s from 1912 and it has the updated button shell interrupter
