I was also looking the M4 models in my local store:
$1900 for a regular Benelli M4; $2000 for the H2O version.
The H2O model retails for $100 more and, I suppose, any resale value will then be negotiable if that's of interest. $100 may not be much on a consideration for a $2000+ (out the door) shotgun.
The main thing, to me, would be which finish/color shotgun would I want to live with for a long time, and I don't think about resale value for something I haven't even decided yet to buy. I don't buy guns with the thought of the values increasing much if at all, even though sometimes used values do go up. I look at other investments for values going up (e.g.; like mutual funds; real estate; maybe gold).
That's just me. Others might buy various forms of personal property, like guns; never shoot them much if at all; with the thought of selling them at a higher price someday.

Just note that today's H2O is not the same as they came out years ago. The finish is different. I believe the current ones are just coated paint where is the older ones are metal surface treatments.
So bottom line is how resistant is it against salt water?Comment

Benelli came out with their new BE.S.T. anti-corrosion finish for one of their field shotguns (Ethos BE.S.T.). They claim it's the best thing since sliced bread and comes with a 25 year anti-corrosion warranty. Ive decided to wait for a used m4 to pop up in marketplace in my area san gabriel valley
Any color is fine
I really would like to shoot it and if i bought an h2o brand new i feel reluctant to take it out the safe
