How to run a KSG

Yeah you just can't rack it like a pansy. It's like limp wristing a Glock. There's nothing wrong with Glocks or KSGs just rack and shoot them with authority.Based on user responses here I think a common denominator is showing up.
Sounds like racking the thing with authority will maintain reliable feed/ejection. Loose 870/500/590 racking may seem to induce derps. That can still happen to these other models too. Newbie user racking that we've all seen or done at one time or another.Last edited by TonyKat; 08-18-2022, 2:57 PM.Comment

I dont think racking it like a pansy is the problem. Most of us have just spent decades running 870’s and if it requires significant more force it’s just not a existing skill set. If you ran a 870 that hard it would detrimental to your speed and flow.
It’s more a weird design issue with the ksg. There is no good reason it should take that much force to run it properly.Comment

It's not so much about force, it's more about speed, and not short stroking it.I dont think racking it like a pansy is the problem. Yeah, I agree to stay with the 870 or 590 a1. If I want to turn them ghey I'll truncate the stock. But I'd never do that. I don't think people should talk about a gun until they've shot it 20K X. Of course I have not shot the keltec so I'll shut up. These guns and sawed off Rem and Moss Shgns are great when you're in the back seat of a VW and transporting bad guys in the front seat. Why not use a model 22 G lock? This is just stuff I think teenagers see on violent game channells.Last edited by marcusrn; 08-19-2022, 4:56 AM.sigpicComment

I've got a Gen 2 KSG that runs fine and eats any length of shell I feed it. I reload all kinds of various length 12ga loads with a roll-crimp. Surprisingly, I've only had a couple misfeeds in nearly 400 rounds. Shorter shells don't recoil as much and make room for more ammo. It's actually a lot of fun to shoot.
I've injured my thumb a couple times doing reloading drills. While the KSG has performed well, I just still can't quite "trust" the damn thing. After considerable thought, I realized this gun looks like a toy... It is a "clam-shell" design that requires an assload of screws to put together. I've seen air soft guns that looked better than this thing.
I know that my complaint rings hollow and I still have my KSG. I live in Idaho, so I've decided to strip the KSG and paint it all snow white - pending the addition of neon orange and green. I've always wanted to paint my KSG to look like some "fantasy Air Soft" gun using neon colors, but CA hhad laws that I didn't want to mess with being so close to my moving out-of-state.Comment
