    Flashlight on vintage 870

I have a light I am going to install on a beautiful vintage 870 with a folding stock and an extended magazine. After some thought and looking on other sites for what others had done when it came to a pressure pad type setup I am to the point where I think it's not really an option with a wired rear cap and pad.

The mount I have coming bolts to the magazine tube.

I know they make other setups that are built into the fore grip etc but it just seems just as easy to click the back of the light as it would to have a separate pad with the only difference is the pad offers a momentary switch if you don't want the light to stay on.

The cord would seem to be more of a possible hindrance than a help.

I have a similar setup to what you described. It's simple and it works. I've done some shooting after dark and I'm more than happy with the the set up.

Damn that stock is uncomfortable. I had one on a Winchester 1300 and it beat the hell out of me.

Especially with slugs. One time at 16 or 17 years old I ran 4 boxes of slugs through it at the 100 yard range. I was black and blue for two weeks.

          Yeah dump that stock!!!

There are Ring Mounts that attach to your Mag Tube and have a small section of Pic Rail. Then you run a Streamlight TLR-1 that has a" treadle switch" on the rear of it. You set it up right in front of the fore end so you can get at it with you thumb. see "What I did to my Shotguns" Sticky thread above for pics.

Another way would be to screw the pic rail to the bottom of the fore end or better yet, get a Magpul Fore end that has the provision to attach the pic rail to the bottom or sides.

This is the optimal place to for the light, any farther forward becomes a problem.

I agree with stream-light and a normal stock. That stock with birdshot is worse than my .300 win mag with hunting rounds. It shouldn’t be but it is.

The mount I have coming attaches to the extended magazine tube and the light has an easy to use button. I don't see the need for a separate switch at all for what this shotgun will be used for.

It used to be more frequently shot than it will be as it is mounted in a hidden location in our front room. The stock while definitely not cushioned serves it's purpose for the use it will get.

The Knoxx gave me uncomfortable cheek slap but I guess that depends on your face and grip.
