    Little Skeeters Inserts

I had forgotten that my Dad had these. I'm pretty sure they're fairly old but in new condition. The still sell them new but a bit different looking and I was surprised how pricey they were.

This set is the 12 gauge to .410 set.

I had Seminole 12g to 20g. They worked pretty good and even interfaces with the ejectors. Testing I saw indicated velocity and patterns deteriorated when dropping down multi gauges.

Yeah, I have the Seminole Chambermates too. 12 to 20, they work great.

I was thinking about 28 to .410 also. I looked at Briley, they didn't have anything although I'm sure they would make some if I wanted to pay the $$$.
But then, I'd have to start loading .410, I really don't want to do that.
I'll stick with 12 & 28 and be happy with that

When I sold my tubed Browning, I got rid of everything 20ga and .410.
That's also when I bought my 28ga, that gun is "FUN"

I had 28 gauge tubes for my 12 gauge C.Z but it was really barrel heavy, sold them, And bought a 28 gauge instead.

Yep, that is exactly what the problem was for me also, swung like a pig on a 4x4
Using chamber adapters like those in the OP would not have the same issue. The biggest issues with them:
                    1) The trigger may not reset when using .410 in a 12ga.
                    2) Poor patterns. You need to choke tighter than you normally would and I don't think you could get choked tight enough using .410 in a 12ga to make it work very well.

I use 12-20 ChamberMates in an old twist barreled double, work great. I have Little Skeeters in 12-16, slow but effective.

                        ><

Never used any of these, but I'm curious as to how they provide any choke at all ..... is the shot coming out the barrel as a spreader choke?

If one is shooting a 12ga full choke at ~.693 and a 20ga Cyl is ~.630 .....the 20ga is leaving the barrel as a neg choke

Am I off or missing something?

I think it works like a "JUG" choke. Shot starts to open up in the bore then hits the choke and constricts back down. With 20ga in a 12ga you would need to tighten your chokes .005 to .010" to get a decent pattern. With 28ga in a 12ga you would need .020 to .025". With .410 in a 12...forget about it...

I have not tried them myself, but this is what my reading indicates.

These things tend to make more sense in vintage guns, because those are often choked very tightly to pattern well with fiber wads and no shot cups. Depending on the specific gun, you can get a pretty effective choke effect with 12-20 inserts. 12-.410 is probably not worth using, but I have not tried that combo.

Ya, the 20g payload is going to fill up the available space in pretty short order, then get choked down.

When I had my 12-20 Chambermates, I shot skeet with skeet chokes. Birds broke fine. I didn't pattern them, but Seminole had quite a bit of testing published. I ended up getting a 20g barrel set for the 682, so sold them.

                              Pretty good write-up:

My quick search didn't discover the Seminole data/pics. I recall the company went under some time ago due to a nasty divorce.
