Went Out To Comanche Hills Yesterday

First time for us, went with my son and my cousin, a couple stations on the Blue course were closed and at several stations only one thrower was working. The Red course was a little better, tougher & faster too...We had a real laugh at Red #3 as it would throw 2 birds and another 2 birds with one push of the double button.

It wasn't crowded, in fact kinda deserted, they had a tourney out there on Saturday so maybe that's why it wasn't crowded; pretty time of the year to be out there and we had a good time. We're going to try Coyote Valley next month.

I used to go there every fall to shoot there and Quail Point. I miss both those places. Did you order the Commanche Scrambler for breakfast? Its a great way to start the morning!

Comanche used to have a station where you sat in a spring mounted aluminum boat. That was a hoot.

Yeah, no, we didn't see that one...

I think the funniest one we saw was Red #7 with a fast running rabbit going left to right and a slow lazy rabbit where a thrower is elevated on a platform about 7-feet off the ground releases a clay that slowly rolls off the platform then down a 1x6 board that's ~ 5-feet long angled towards the ground then off the board where it rolls slowly on the ground about 6-8 feet and falls over.

None in our group had been to Comanche before so I was the guinea pig and always went first, I shot the slow clay on the ground, then my cousin went and he shot the slow clay on the ground, then the young gun went, he shot the clay as it was rolling down the board just before it got to the end of the board...To which I exclaimed, "Brilliant" and we all laughed

Comanche is a lot of fun; I would like to get a group together to try the Quail Flurry...

Like to out, get breakfast while waiting for my brother who is usually late... Then 1/2 the times wind up getting lunch too, after shooting.

We liked Birds Landing too. Shot Quail Point; that was fun shooting. Have not made it to Rahuagges(Dunnigan) yet.

I think they had to get rid of it for "safety reasons".

This is why we can't have nice things.

We used to call that the Camanche Rat. If you get the chance, try their grouse bunker. That is a ton of fun. Your fingers will get sore loading shells as fast as you can but you will have a blast (pun intended).

I forgot to mention, there were pheasants, roosters and hens, walking in and around the Red course when we there there, saw at least twenty of them scooting and lounging about.

Was out at Raahauges earlier this week. It was pretty fun. The traps there are older, but the targets are challenging enough to keep even seasoned shooters on their toes. I shot like crap because I couldn't see the targets (a vision issue, not a presentation issue).

They're having a NSCA registered shoot on June 6th-7th. If you aren't in the NSCA, you can always shoot in Hunter class and see how you stack up against the NSCA gals/guys.

I'd also like to recommend shooting over at Family Club, they have phenomenal targets setting, although since you would be shooting over a marsh you will have to shoot steel target loads so lead didn't get distributed into the wetlands. I think they have steel shot for sale there.
