Auto-5 vs Remington Model 11 barrel?

I have an older Remington Model 11 with a full choke barrel.

I would like to have a second barrel with a 'looser' choke - preferably Improved Cylinder. Would I be able to use a barrel from a Browning Auto-5 (which are much easier to find)?

I am under the impression that they are pretty much the same gun, but don't know how interchangeable parts are.

Auto-5 is a great shotgun, maybe your buddy is the problem.

My Remington only shoots 2 3/4 shells, not the 3 inch magnum rounds.

My Auto-5 shoots magnums, but then again mine is a "Magnum 20".

A-5 barrels will not fit Rem Model 11s. There the same but different. Go online there is alot of info about it.

You will ruin any model 11 or A-5 if you don't set the friction rings correctly for the loads you are shooting. Heavy loads with rings set for light loads will crack and break forearms and batter the action. Light loads with rings set for heavy loads will cause ejection and reliability problems. Go to Browning.Com and see how the rings should be set. Barrels will not interchange.
