    Mini shells and Shockwave

So the new version of the Mossberg shockwave is supposed to do the mini shells with no problems and no need for that rubber adapter that doesn't engender a whole lot of confidence? Can the old version be upgraded? If so, what parts are needed?

      Good luck finding mini shells.

Everywhere I've looked, they (Aguila and Federal) are out of stock.

Have one ... but a rubber do-hicky that can fall out? It doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence. Please tell me of your experiences.

Don't have one. Has it ever fallen out?

I lead a rather intense life. So I have not had a chance to test rubber thing. I'm just saying with the force involved the sight of the device left me nervous. That said I'm open to honest discussion regarding success obtained by others ... though I will still proceed with caution. The discharge of a shotgun carries a lot of force. I have no desire to gamble. My ship has docked and intend to do my best to enjoy it.

I remain dubious about mini shells and the adapter in regard to any HD applications.

Range use? Go ahead and play through.

So can ANYONE describe the modification made by Mosberg in the new Shockwave???? Can I make the modification with new parts or does it require machining??? They are apparently confident that it works.

Back in the day there were sales (just sayin). But even now I understand they can be created via handload procedures.

I just want something I can depend on with my life. Maybe it's the new Smith & Wesson. I just don't know. But I need to know.

The Mossberg 590S differs in that it has a newly designed bolt, trigger group, and shell elevator. All of which were redesigned so that it can reliably utilize shells of 1 3/4" to 3" without any needing to do any adjustments/modifications to switch between the shell lengths.

                        AFAIK...
The bolt was redesigned to incorporate new cam surfaces to interact with the newly designed shell elevator.
The trigger group was redesigned to incorporate a new part that keeps shells oriented/aligned in the correct direction.
The shell elevator was redesigned to reliable feed/lift the shells of different lengths.

You are likely smarter than I am, but it sounds like I need to buy the new unit to achieve my objective. Mini shells make sense to me on this type of weapon. Actually that's why I bought it. So I may have to sell or give the old unit to someone else.

My neighbor is not a gun guy. Maybe he's the one.

It sucks when they come out with new things that are better than the old. My parents grew up in the Great Depression and never let me forget. Hard to get rid of things, but I must because I have too much stuff.
