3in 12GA Magnum Rounds are NO JOKE!

I tried shooting some Remington 3in 12GA Magnum shells and they are extremely potent. I shot them out of my Mossy 500 and my shoulder is soooo sore right now. I'm sticking to 2 3/4 shells from now on. Any of you scattergunners use these rounds regularly? I commend you. I will never use those rounds again. My shoulder can't take it.

    You should try 3.5in shells.

I've have used them but not on purpose. My bro in law handed me his 870 and asked me if I would shoot it to see if the action was rough. It had 2 light recoil rounds and then a 3" 1oz slug. It really made a huge difference, especially after the light recoil shells. I'm still planning my revenge.

I once fired off 15 3 in magnum slugs and even with a Knoxx SpecOps on my 500 it was one heck of an experience.

Hell No They Arent! Try some #4 Buck 3 inch magnums in a Mossberg Cruiser, You will hurt your wrist or you will be shooting about 2 feet higher than normal.

the 3 inch slugs are okay as long as you hold the gun right.

Now those 3 1/2 inch slugs, yeah, it will make people look at you.

I'm not to fond of the 3". 2 3/4" is fine as we all know it's about shot placement. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of 3" in reserve.

3" are no problem in my Mossberg Bullpup because of it's excellent design. In anything else, it's a bit uncomfortable. 10g 3 1/2" mags in my Ithaca Mag10 are ........well, an "experience".

It sounds like either the stock oesn't fit you properly, you are not shouldering correctly or both!

I broke in my 870 Super Mag with 2.75", 3" and 3.5" shells.

I tell you. If you cant handle the 3" shells, don't try the 3.5" ones. But a lot has to do with your form and particular shotgun. Make sure to hold the butt stock tight against your shoulder. Maybe invest in a nice recoil pad and or a recoil buffering stock.
