Is a quad rail overkill?

Maxicon, does your TK11 accept standard 1" rings? It seems my E20 is too skinny for 1" rings.
Good info and analysis from you all. I just realized I need to wear gloves or the quad rail will rip my palm apart under heavy recoil.
No quad rail for me I guess.

thats why you attach it to a pressure switch squeeze it and it turns on with only pressure, or squeeze to turn it on squeeze to turn it off. make it a strobe and it will easily blnd and dissoriant someone, and even if they try and raise a gun im shooting them they arent getting the cance to.bingo joe logic has a point, besides a light makes a great target, it says " hey, lookie here, shoot at this" Besides that all this stuff is extraneous, just learn how to shoot, develop a situational awareness of your location, and remember there is nothing scarier to the bad guys than an old naked white man with a big gun and an empty spot on his trophy wall. I want the bad guys to have lights, makes them easier to shoot.

Keep it simple, keep it light. The shotgun should point as an extension of your movement (that is why length of pull is so important). Weighing it down with gadgets will disrupt your ability to point and respond."Sacramento" Bruce Conklin

but what about all of the poor manufacturers of all this crap who have convinced so many of you that you can't live without their stuff.
they went to a lot of trouble to create a market.
oh, yeah, get back to the basics, get training, learn how to shoot, know what to say to the LE when they find you standing over the body of a recently dispatched intruder. find a company to come out and clean up the mess before you need them(shotguns get really messy). get a lawyers # before you need him.
find therapy
all of this is more important than turning your shotgun into some kind of toy.
Learn how to answer these questions in court:
For what purpose did you modify your shotgun?
Did you modify your weapon for the specific purpose of killing the victim?
Trust me He will become the victim.
Please don't hang a bunch of useless crap on your shotgun, just because it looks cool on TV/video games/Movies and impresses your friends"There's no way to rule innocent men. I won't shoot unless I can identify my target or myself and/or my family is being under threats.
Are you going to turn on the lights when the bad guys broke into your house ?
There's a switch for that.

Different strokes for different folks. In my situation, I know that anyone coming in unannounced is a bad guy..therefore I'll shoot first then ask questions later. Plus they would've had to kill both my English Mastiffs first anyway so I have good reason to shoot.

Tactically if your power goes out, secure your family, and bunker down. Why go looking for the bad guy? If you are hiding you have the element of surprise.
If you shine a weapon mounted light in someone's face you better be ready to shoot. If you are unsure of your target you should not be shining your weapon mounted light at what are you not intending to destroy.
And then rack your action, in the real world, a round is chambered, safety is on, identify, bring the gun to bear, safety off, fire. Chambering a round when the bad guy is already in front of you is a FAIL.
Close enought to grab your gun, FAIL.
Semi Auto Shotgun/Hand held light.
The flashlight is just as much about blinding your attacker as it is about seeing in the dark. In the dark if you have a flashlight shining in your face, it is nearly impossible to see anything else including what is behind the flashlight.
You shine a flashlight in someone's face, especially a strobe, and then rack the action on your gun as you scream for them to get down on the floor... I would bet they would be more cooperative than if they could actually see you and get a chance to try to grab at your gun.Comment

Yes, the TK11 is a standard 1" tube. I like it a lot as a long gun light, and it's a pretty durn good hand-held too. It's the best value for the money I've found yet.sigpic

i wasnt going to write anything but someone had a good point and i figured i would add my share. i have a couple different barrels for my shotgun. i actually cant fit the larger barrels in my safe when attatched so mu shot gun is stored with the 18 inch 'scatter' barrel. now IF I DID have my shotgun loaded i would first have a #12 shot in it. this could be real handy for a lot of things. hell maybe even a door breaching round.
personally i dont plan on shooting anyone, even legally. i keep a bat by my bedroom door. there has been a couple times my wife woke me us oveer noises and i have gone to my safe, but then realized that the electronic lock on the old safe beeped and that kinda defeats the purpose.
i do understand the desire to modify though. i bought a mount and scope and laser and light and stock and eveerything else for my SKS when i got it. every time i would take it out another piece would get taken off. mostly because i realized it didnt need it nor was it designed to have a scope and mount on it. when i fisrt got my 12 ga i got a top folding ATI stock for no other reason than it looked cool. then with the stock folded up, shot 18 inch barrel attatched, and a light mounted the gun looked super *****in and super scary. first time i tried to actually shoot it the stock cheeked me and came off immediately. then the mount and the light fell apart in tandem and i realized it wasnt made for such applications."I suppose i can part with one and still be feared..." -Prof. Hubert J. Lights are excellent tools. You don't have to turn it on until needed. If you think a light will ruin your night vision, imagine what happens to the guy you shine it at. Besides, the first shot will kill your night vision. Being that many guns are black, I probably wouldn't see that he had a gun without a light. Many light setups allow you to remove them from the weapon. This allows you to illuminate things without pointing your gun at them. I personally am not too keen on weapon mounts. If he does manage to get a shot off, I don't want my head in line with the light. Most of my house is pitch black when the power is down.
The light I have is bright enough that I could set it on the floor and it would still light up the entire side of the room in the direction pointed. Most people who think a light isn't a good idea have never trained with them in a low light/night shoot. I was ambivalent to lights until Matt P got me rethinking the whole thing. Now I own and train with one. They are fantastic tools and I strongly encourage everyone to get one and try it for yourself. YMMV.

How often does this happen in your neighborhood? I understand the "...it'll only take once..." saying but there's a fine line between preparedness and paranoid schizophrenia.
