OU shotti with barrel inserts for other common pistol/rifle caliber.

However, if it is the zombie apocalypse, then the Phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.

Shovelon: is that A5 your's? If so you've got a classic A5 Riot Gun.

My Combat A5 is a newer version.

Please elaborate on "other scenarios?" The only reason I can come up with that would result in me only having one gun was the one laid out above where I'd have to run on foot.

Or is the question what is your "Favorite Gun?" In that case I'd choose my Mauser .22, as it will be the last gun I own.

Any other situation I could bring more. And in all situations I'd also have a Glock with me.

No Randy. Mine is a standard capacity Belgian 12 speed load, 26" vented barrel, with Briley thinwall choke tubes fitted by Briley. I fitted my version of SuperSporting composite black furniture with articulating recoil pad, and put the nearly pristine original wood furniture in the safe. I will be shooting it at the Big Bonanza at Moore N" Moore this Sunday.

That gun in the picture is my idea of the perfect "Only have one gun".

Difficult decision. I don't own a semi. I love my basic 88 but I also love my 30/30. I have multiple barrels for the 88 and slugs/00 for self defense and I also have shot shells for hunting. My 30/30 I suppose I could hunt large game with and I can definitely use it for self defense. I guess I'd have to go with the shotgun.

My gun shown above is a 1963 model, first year for Speed Feed.

The Riot Gun shown is a pre 1963 gun so it doesn't have Speed Feed Feature. However the new parts would convert it to Speed Feed and there is no alteration to the gun other than the substitution of the new parts..

You know the difference in loading the new ones vs the old ones and it is a night and day difference when time matters. The old ones must have the Bolt closed and the Bolt release button held down to load the magazine. There is no fast way to do this adn the gun has to be turned upside down to do it.

                Hence,,,

                Speed Feed good!

My A5 Bird Gun is a 1964 light 12 and has Full and Modified Barrels and was given to me in 1995 by my Favorite Uncle. He had put 22 rounds thru it in 30 years. I put 100 thru it a week later shooting Doves!. It is nearly perfect.

                  Which model exactly?
Semi-auto centerfire rifle; most likely an AR-15 in an A5 configuration (20 inch barrel, collapsing stock). If it has to be a CA-legal semi-auto centerfire, than I guess an M1 Garand.

Just got significantly more time and rounds downrange with semi-auto rifles than any shotgun, so I already know my biases will lead me one way over the other.

Forever is a loooong time. In the case of some SHTF civil unrest lasting years, I'd be dead or collecting arms off the dead. So "forever" doesn't exist long term.

But I already said "dropped off in the middle of nowhere" and I have to hoof it to civilization (should civilization be my destination). Let's say civilization is a week or month distant. I could feed/protect myself more readily with a shotgun. Camp food of opportunity and can act as a rifle to say 100 yards if needed. Small game is generally more available and big game doesn't travel well. I can't eat a deer at a sitting like a lion or bury my kill to eat rotting meat a week later.

My original answer presumes it was some "edict". Self-imposed, gov't imposed, who knows? Give me a bird dog and a shotgun if I had to choose. That's what I enjoy the most.

Where are you "running" to? How far is it? How long will that take? What resistance do you perceive? What will you find once you get there?

I just find the "guerilla" to be one facet of many. A defensible position would likely want a different arm than a guerilla.

You’re in the shotgun sub forum so obviously shotgun!

I really only have one shotgun left so I’d keep that one:

Shot, buck, and slugs.

If I can’t have LUCILLE, it will be my Remington 870 Super Mag with a handful of shotgun adapters in different calibers...I would just remove the extractor.
You make a good point. It comes down to what you know, and what you are most proficient with. The same holds true for the age-old question "what gun is best for self-defense". It's whichever one you are best with. If you can't shoot it worth a damn and don't know the manual of arms for it then it's not the right weapon for you. No matter how awesome it is for others. Your choice is based on which one you know you perform best with. That's a great answer. The fact that's also an awesome shotgun is beside the point.

After talking to many of my friends about this subject over the weekend I'm back to the .22. It is by far the most versatile of all the <100 yard guns.
