12-gauge Lee Load All is the first shotshell loader I bought, works fine, I like the MEC better though.

Yes they do work, but there are better machines out there. A used MEC single stage would be a huge step up.

The load all doesn't have a positive stop on the down stroke, you have to develop a "feel" for it. That is its biggest problem. Like all single stage presses it is slow, if you shoot a lot you will move up to a progressive machine in no time.

That said, it is probably best to learn on a single stage...

I shoot a lot and still use single stage presses, I just have a bunch reloaded and reload when I feel like it! Never any issues.

I can give some comments as a semi newbie reloader. About 20 months ago I was given 4 mec 600jr reloaders in different gauges. They came with all the powders, hulls, primers, and wads. All the reloaders were all set up and marked with load data. It was a bit of a learning curve still. But I managed to prevail. One of them, the 20 gauge mec Jr. has an automatic primer feed tray. That is the only one I really like. It is twice as fast as the non auto primer feed and a joy to use.

If I had to do it all again I would buy new from a dealer and have the auto primer feed tray installed and tested by the dealer. Phillips Wholesale would probably be my source as the dealer. They have all the parts as well. https://www.phillipswholesale.com/me...s---parts.html

The Lee Load All is a $50 machine. It will load good ammo but not in any quantity. A MEC 600 is the next step up from there, and it is a huge step up!!

These are "Single Stage" Reloading Machines. Meaning you load one shell at a time from start to finish. But the MEC is designed to last and be used for a long time and load literally tens of thousands of rounds. The Load All won't do that. It is an entry level machine to get you into reloading shotshells adn then you graduate up to a better machine.

One thing the Lee Tool is good for is loading specialty ammo like slugs or buckshot or experimental ammo. They are quick to change over to new loads and come with both powder and shot bushings so you can do it easily.

That said, there is an "Adjustable Charge Bar" for MECs that allows you to change over quickly and there are no bushings to lose with it.

The MEC is jsut a better machine and consequentially it costs more. But you cna always get your money back on a MEC. They are very re-sellable. Just go look on Ebay and see how many there are for sale. Prices on those used ones has gone up dramatically in teh last year!

I shot 3 skeet rounds in the 20's with reloads from that reloader with fiocchi hulls, universal powder, and cheddite primers, kills them like a champ.

I'm shooting Reloads in my Glocks tomorrow. Sunday it's 3 Gun also with 12 ga reloads, Glock with .40 S&W reloads, and carbine with .223 reloads.

It will be a completely reloaded weekend!!!
