    Mossberg 590S CA legal?

So browsing online retailers for the new Mossberg 590S, based off of their description, it says 13 rounds for the 20inch model. It could be 13 rounds of mini shells or 9 rounds of 2.75" shells or 7 3" shells. Seems like a gray area to me.

Looks like 13 rounds is for mini shells.

I can find them - in my basement

I was stocked with Aguila mini shells pre-pandemic, and was actually able to add the Federal shorties during the pandemic at the pre-pandemic price

It seems like shotgun shells were the last ammo to be affected by the panic (not surprising), but they are also the slowest recovering, which surprises me. A year ago, well into the panic, I was still able to get target loads at Bass Pro at great prices. Not now

All you shotgun guys should have been reloading your ammo for years by now. I don't see how anyone who shoots Trap or Skeet or Sporting Clays can afford to shoot enough to get good without reloading their own ammo at home.

If you have a MEC or other single stage press you can load any type of Specialty Shotshell, like Buckshot or Slugs easily,, as well as your normal trap and skeet loads. Small investment with big returns.

If you buy a Roll Crimping Tool from BPI that uses a hand drill or drill press you can duplicate any Factory Loaded Ammo easily.

I took the Brenneke and Lightfield rounds apart to see what was inside of them. Both of these specialty loads were loaded in Rio Hulls which I just happened to have more of, so I cut them apart and took pictures of teh innards and then reloaded the contents back in to new hulls and roll crimped them closed. I used a BPI Roll crimping tool to close them and you can see that they look a little different. They still go bang just fine. I now use a better tool I got off the Reloaders Network and my crimps now have the nice rounded edge on the front.

I loaded 10 Lee Slugs into some very old AA hulls yesterday on my Pacific DL266 single stage loader. I ran the hulls thru all the steps of Sizing/Depriming, Re-Priming, Dropping Powder, Inserting Wad, Dropping Shot, dumping shot back into the hopper, Inserting a Slug, then pre-crimp and then final crimp. It took 10 minutes to load 10 slugs which will be used for sighting in my new car gun.

These were loaded with my standard Trap Load of a Win AA hull with 18 gr of Green Dot, a WAA12 wad, and then substituting a Lee Slug, which I cast myself, for the 1 1/8 oz of #8 shot and fold crimping back closed . These are normally used as practice rounds or in 3 gun shoots where there are targets farther than 25 yards, they can also be used a s SD rounds for Home Defense and whereas they are not quite as hot as Federal Low Recoil Slugs they will still hurt you pretty bad if that becomes necessary!
