big 5 is good, they have it on sale every now and then for 300 or so with both barrels, i recommend it, i thought i'd only use the 18.5" barrel but i recently got really into shooting clays, its really fun!

i shoot them w/ my 20" 500. it may not be optimum, but it is doable. note: but i just do it for fun and don't take it too seriously.

You could check out Turners Outdoorsman...they are selling Mossberg 500's for $300 until thursday. They are the 20" barrel but it is a very good deal, almost too good to pass up. Plus, there are multiple Turners in SoCal

MARTIN B. RETTING usually has a nice variety of gauges and decent prices. At one time they were selling Mossy 500 matte finish basic stock for $269, AT ONE TIME! I dont think anymore, but they do have good deals sometimes.
