Wtf was Benelli thinking with their stock M4 sling insert???

I've been trying for the last half hour or more to get this damn blue force vickers sling into the Benelli M4's fixed stock sling insert, and no matter what I've done it just won't go in. The tolerance and room is so tight it seems impossible to even get the corner in. And the one time I actually did, it wouldn't budge, I tugged as hard as I could with my needle-nosed plier and all it did was help rip the sling.... I've tried tweezers, pliers, and even ironing the edge of the sling to make it tighter and nothing!

Any ideas or solutions for this?
    Thanks.

Not sure. But I used an old GI sling with no trouble.

First, cut the sling end on an angle, maybe 30 degrees.

Next, heat the cut end with a lighter to seal the end, and also mash it flat while doing it.

Then feed the newly made point of the sling through first.

If you really want you can square the end afterwards, but it is easier to pass through buckles and such when cut at an angle and will not affect function at all.

What skyhawk said. Or if you randomly happen to have a parachute rigging buddy you can borrow a hot knife which is a tool specifically made to produce precise cuts to nylon materials while leaving clean tapered edges.

loosen the stock- that square can be removed and or moved to the side a bit.

I would try loosing the stock to see if you can wiggle the D over and get the sling started... could also be out of spec

Thank you all for the quick support and help!

I tried the cutting technique and heating it with a lighter, that didn't work unfortunately.

However, I did find a simple solution that worked. I used the pliers to pull the insert/square out and that did the trick! Got a few scratches on the stock now, but who cares just happy to get the sling in and working

My stock benelli was too long for me... same with the Mossberg JM Pro

There is a shorter stock for the M4 if the LOP is too long...
