    Benelli M4 or Beretta 1301?

    Hi All,
I have been looking at filling a space in my safe with one of these and I was curious if (other than the obvious price difference) there were any reason to go definitively in one way or the other. I'm not going to run thousands of rounds through the thing every year and the Benelli has been on my wish list for a very long time, but the Beretta seems like a solid choice.
Anyway I thought I would throw it out there. Unless this is just one of those Chevy-Ford things in which case I will just see which one jumps out at me when I am there.
Each year on your birthday, ask yourself:
In the last year, what have I done with my name?
In the last year, what have I done with my time?
These are the most valuable things you have and once they are gone, you can not get them back.

EuroOptic is currently paying the tax on Benelli shotguns

The latest enhanced version of the 1301 is difficult to find.

u have been here long enough to know that the calguns answer is: both. my real suggestion is to get what u really want. like u i always wanted a benelli m4 so thats what i bought. but in all honesty i will likely get a 1301 later down the road.

I have a M4, I also have a 1301 by my bed, and a 1301 Comp as my 3 gun shotgun. Get whatever you want. M4 is my SHTF shotgun.

^^^ I have both too - and agree with slinging M4 for SHTF... but I intend to use 1301 for bump in the night quick grab.

I think the 1301 is about 2 inches shorter

If I have to pick one, I will go with the Benelli M4. Chosen and selected by Uncle Sam's Storm Troopers (aka US Marines) as their combat shotgun of choice, no other shotguns on the market today has its fearsome reputation as a close range weapon. Designed to fight and born to kill, its creation has one purpose and one purpose only; the destruction of another human being with extreme prejudice. It does not even bother with a "sporting" version.

It is also beautiful to look at, it is lethality expressed as an art form, something only the Italians can pull off. If you take the Benelli M4 and show it to someone who has little to no knowledge of firearms, it will be immediately clear to that person that this is a combat weapon. It simply cannot be mistaken for anything else.

So get one and enjoy the look on the face of the intruder who dare enter your home uninvited, see how he wet himself before you blast his spleen and intestine out his back with your Benelli M4.

I got to shoot my buddy Mossberg 770 JM edition pretty sweet semi auto. Much lighter than Benelli 1014

Depends on the stock... I have the 1301 tactical (with pistol grip, urbano stock)... its exactly the same length as M4 with urbano stock.

M4 with oem pistol grip would be longer...

Interestingly, when shouldering, the 1301 does 'feel' shorter - but I think it's because of the regular butt pad vs M4 with limbsaver pad... weight difference may also play mind tricks making it feel shorter?

Of course those observations are just my setup - others may be different.

whoever comes up with bacon wrapped AR or shotgun - is gonna sell a ton (I suspect)...

the only way I know to do it is airbrush - but the only artist I know that can do it is in SoCal... and painted wouldn't hold up... hydro dipped would be the only option I think.
