It’s all about balance, I’m 5’7” and 28 feels right to me in a 12 gauge. A guy who is 6’3” will probably find a 32”+ barrel gun more natural.Comment

Thank you all for the information. After researching so far I like the TriStar TT-15 field and the Franchi instinct L. Both 12ga. There is about a $400 difference between them. Is the Franchi worth the extra $400? Thanks.Comment

I think it's worth the extra money. But, both guns are 7lbs, IMO a bit light for a Clays gun.
Field guns are light because they are carried a lot and fired a little.
Target guns are heavy because they are carried a little and fired a lot.
A heavy gun will absorb much of the recoil, a good thing after 100 or more shells."A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"Comment

Unless you have a stock pile of 12 ga go with 20 ga. You'll enjoy the gun more and the ammo for both ga's cost the same.
I like the Stevens 555. I handled a few of them and they're very nice with long length of pull. The 26" balances very nicely in this gun if it's the 20 ga!
With any of the entry level guns buy in person, avoid ordering as you won't know what you're getting in terms of wood quality.
Some of them have very ugly wood or wood that's incorrectly cut.
Good luck!Comment

I shoot a 30" Beretta 686 Onyx Pro Sporting.
Perfect gun fit for me. The length of the barrel is secondary to gun fit. It's all about the fit of the gun.Honesta Mors Turpi Vita Potior - 3%Comment
