    Inertia 3" vs 3.5"

Hi, I'm just a bit curios of the theory behind the inertia action. Lets say you have two of the same guns (ex: Browning A5 or stoeger 3k/35k). One is chambered in 3.5" and the other in 3".

Now lets say you're shooting the same load, 12 ga 3" 1.25 oz at 1500fps. Would the 3.5" model have less felt recoil in theory? I'm assuming this because the 3.5 would be tuned for the heavier loads and usually has trouble cycling the lightest of loads as a result.

Actual recoil would be the same.
Felt recoil MAY be different, but not likely. The change in impulse time would likely be no different between the two, resulting in no difference in felt recoil.

      ><

Felt recoil with all being the same except the 3" or 3.5" action.

      I'll go with
The one with the least felt recoil would be the heaviest one + the best fitting + the best balanced.

If not all three, it can go either way

the 3 1/2" has a forcing cone that is 1/2" further down the barrel...

In reality, 1/2" longer forcing cone when you have shot moving at 1200 fps....

so that would be 1/24th of a foot

I doubt you could measure the recoil impulse difference.

The real question- for the 3.5" model weigh more
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)
