I've shot some Berettas and the "kaboing" of the recoil mechanism reminds me of a pogo stick. It's also almost identical to a Browning Gold, same receiver and made in the same factory.

I've got the 26" barrel and would buy it again in a heartbeat. I'm used to shooting over unders, so I wanted something with a similar overall length and it worked out very well. I frequent Coyote Clays, Metcalf, and Los Altos. If you're ever headed out let me know, if we can arrange to meet you're welome to shoot it.

I shoot a little high power once in a while with Zouaves too.
I usually shoot trap at Chabot... I haven't been to Coyote Clays in almost 15yrs now....

    This.

The quality of fit, assuming you're a serious shooter, is just as or more important than the make/model.

X2 or X3's are superb. I've seen benelli's puke at the worst time

Beretta owns Benelli, a Beretta semi will serve you well.

You really need to try a few before you put down the dollars...you'll not pick your ideal gun based on some yahoo's (like me) opinion on the web. Find out what top tier trap shooters like, and go with that. A dedicated shotgun forum will be helpful.

I grabbed the Benelli Ultra Light a couple weeks ago that was on the rack at Irvington to bust some clays.

I have to say, it's a very nice shotgun and nice and light.

I use a Winchester SX2, picking up a SX3 in the near future. I like them much more than the Remington's as I have always been a Winchester shotgun guy - the trigger is much nicer, and it just comes up to my shoulder better. As for comparison to the Benelli, there's less recoil and I have never had feeding problems even with 2 3/4" trap loads shooting out of my 3.5" gun, whereas I have shot with several Benelli owners who have had multiple failure to feeds in just one shooting session. Try and find people with the guns you're looking at and shoot them, it's really subjective with trap guns.
