    Winchester SXP Defender

    What do you all think about the overall quality of this shotgun? Its a pump action, with " inertia assist " so shucking the pump is faster and lighter than the usual. I like its svelt lines and the price. As a disclosure....its made in Turkey.

    Plenty of you tube videos are favorable. From " nutnfancy " to " hickock45 ", and many others are giving good report.

    Any body own this particular shotgun here in calguns??

    The defender works well and serves it's purpose;
    just a basic budget 12G pump shotgun for HD.

    I’ve put it through it’s paces with both slugs and
    shot, it performed. Keep it clean and oiled, GTG.

      No experience with the SXP Defender but I have the 1300 Defender and a 1300 long barrel "Speed Pump" it is based on. Love these guns. Very slick action. If you are used to a Mossberg or something you have to adjust to the Winchester and overcome a tendency to short stroke it, but once you are familiar with the action they are very fast.

      I have read the new ones don't have consistent quality control, you might need to de-burr the action and polish the chamber. This is common on lots of new shotguns. Nothing wrong with "Made in Turkey" they produce a lot of great guns there.

        I have the 1300 defender and the SXP. The SXP seems to operate a little more quickly. Both of them are top quality I think. I'm lucky to have them.

          I had the FDE SXP defender and the thing just stopped running. The trigger wouldn't reset and upon inspection the hammer was mushroomed from hitting the firing pin. I called Winchester and they would only fix it on my dime. Get a Mossberg or an Ithaca.

            Oh my, that's no good then.

            I think I will get a Benelli Super Nova.

            Been on the fence lately, thinking what to add to my small collection. Currently, I wanted a good pump action. Been browsing Gunbroker.com, and I got this tempting offer for the Winchester SXP Defender, so I thought I'll ask the Calguns people before committing.

            Thank you ALL, for the valuable insight. Cheers.

              Try to handle the supernova before hand. If you ever want to swap barrels or stocks it can be pricey. They are quality shotguns though.

                The Turks have been making guns for a long time. They are very experienced at it. Especially shotguns. I have a Stoeger P350 12 gauge shotgun. I've had it for about 10 years. I've shot hundreds of rounds through it with no issues ever.

                  I have a Stoeger M3K, its quality is above the Mossbergs and Remington I used to own.

                    I always hear great things about stoeger, but the OP was asking about the Winchester.
