Can someone please explain how to "ghost load" a Benelli M1s90?

    I have a new (used) Benelli M1s90, tactical/short (18"?) ghost-ring model.... w/ mag extension (6 in the tube).

Can someone please explain, step by step, how to "ghost load" it? Currently, I can do 6+1.... so with ghost load, I can do a totally of 8 rounds, is that correct?

    Thanks!

    1. With bolt closed on empty chamber, top off the mag tube.
    2. Pull bolt handle back far enough so that you can slip a shell under the bolt carrier.
    3. Put last shell in chamber and let the bolt close.

Sidenote: newer Benellis need to have the bolt carrier modified to ghost load.

Doesn't seems to work for me....

I can get a round in the chamber, and i can get a round under the bolt, but after that 2 rounds cycled, the rounds from the tube doesn't come out...

Are you testing with live rounds or snap caps? You may need to test with snap caps so that you can pull the trigger, which will unlock the shell from the tube. This is the same as hitting the lever underneath that releases one when the bolt is back.

Obviously you can't do this with live rounds anywhere but the range/someplace you can shoot safely.

Yeah, +1 to this. You can't just cycle the action like other shotguns. However, this is a good thing and it's what allows you to do a quick load swap without having to employ a magazine cutoff or manually stopping the magazine feed. The gun only releases shells from the mag when it needs to.

I have an older HK M1S90 I can ghost load and a newer Benelli M1S90 that doesn't. The shell carrier needs to be modified on the new shotgun, but I haven't gotten around to doing that.

Mine is *also* a HK M1s90.

Do you have any info about "how to modify", maybe I can look up the info.

You should be able to ghost load your HK. AR15barrels does the modification. I'm not sure what it entails.

To tell you the truth, when I load my shotgun it's something I just do. I don't even think about it. I think I ghost load it like this but I may be wrong. (Shotgun is downstairs in the safe. I don't have any dummies.) Open bolt, load 7. Drop one round through the ejection port onto the lifter. Drop another round into the port. Close bolt with bolt release. 7+1+1 =9. Sorry for not being much help.

I think I figured it out... I test it with snap-caps... and it does work....

Now, any tips as to how to get that round "under" the bolt carrier.... doesn't seems to be the easiest thing to do....

This is just practice. I had to get a feel kind of instinctively for how far I can pull back the BCG before the feed lever will be caused to flip up on the return trip...and the only way to get a feeling for this is to do it over and over and over again. >_>

Once you get a feeling for this, it is just matter of dropping a cartridge in the empty space and pushing it onto the feed lever while holding the BCG back, as there will be a surprising amount of room to work with given a BCG pulled back to just before it trips the feed lever (at least if the M4 is any indication).
