New Remington off to bad start

The New owners called me November 17th. The guy advised I am still a Remington Master Gun Shop and I had $102K in parts on back order and did I want to keep them in the Que. I replied Yes. He said they would honor the 2020 Parts List Prices when they start shipping. That was over 6 months ago and not a word since. I am sitting on $2K to restock my store and that's not much considering the big guys out there but a big deal to me. So I have been trying to contact Remington to any kind of info as I have decisions to make. The Contact us on the new web site www.remarms.com is not working.

They are wrong headed in their start up. Most the internal parts are vendor parts and they should have had these coming in while fighting the Union. they could have then shipped parts and help all the Remington owners whoes guns are out service for the sake of one small part. Instead they are offering only the more expensive guns. So it appears there is little to no concern for current owners as they just want to build and sell guns.

I have been trying to get in contact with anyone and tell them the above. Guys need 870 forend tube assemblies, Trigger plate assemblies, breech bolts and other 870 Parts. Guys need 1100 and 1187 Action assemblies, action links, Interceptor parts and other small parts to get their gun running.

They need to take care of existing owners first and could have been doing that for months. I am in the process of deciding whether to simply end my store because I have no assurance the New Remington is going to someone I want to do business with. I do what I do for the love of it not the money as I am 68, debt free and retired very very well. So if the love is gone it is not worth the BS and all I am seeing from this New Company is BS so far.

If anyone has been able to get hold of this company please tell me how you did it because I want assurances from then very soon or that $2k goes in to CD's and they can go pound sand.

Sorry to hear that. Hoping they get it together.

I have an 870 in 12 gauge and just picked up one in 20 gauge. Also have an 870 express tactical. They are great shotguns but if they are not making parts, a lot of people will sell or not fix when they have a problem.

I’m looking for a 18.5” barrel for my 20 gauge and can’t see to find one in good shape for under $300. They sold for $100-150 years ago.

I have a Mossberg 20 gauge and will probably get one in 12 gauge.

Fingers crossed they get it together. Love my V3 and 870’s.

I'll bet they're in a cash crunch and are actively looking for bridge financing. So, they probably don't have the money to purchase parts from vendors. For all we know, they owe those vendors boatloads of money from the previous management, and those vendors won't deliver anymore until they get paid for previous deliveries. Every penny of Remington's existing capital is probably being used to start up their production lines. Without that production, they'll have zero cash flow to address anything else.

Spare parts is likely far back on the list of priorities.

I hope I'm wrong for your sake.

Thank you for posting that, JD.
It’s good to hear that you are doing well otherwise.
Yes, Remington should take care of existing parts, etc., first, but I think it points towards a general decline in many things these days, particularly in firearms manufacturers.
BTW, did you catch any of that Vang Comp thread on this board from a couple weeks ago?

JD - I'd hate see you go.

Essentially, the new company has to be thought of as a "start up" company.
They will have some hurdles to get through, before things smooth out. Not to give them an excuse, but Covid had to have an impact and may have played or is still playing a part in things.

Maybe you should temporarily close your store. See how things are in 6 months or a year.

Maybe they will get their stuff together, and you can decide at that point if you want to start back up. You may find out you're having too much fun being "fully retired" to return.

Always enjoyed reading and learning from your posts.

Best of luck to you, regardless of how it turns out.

Any good company would consider all kinds of demand and prioritize them, but not ignore any of them: new gun sales, marketing, promotions, pro shooters, replacement parts (in-house and folks like aippi), etc.

A bad company would either ignore this problem or screw over one or more demand sources.

Of course, there are situations where there is no great solution and Remington could be in one.

Update. I got through and just had a 30 minute conversation with a really cool guy. Now the problem. I have no parts on back order and they do not even have a list of former Dealers. He said they are working hard on getting parts as they understand there are a lot of former owners with guns out of service. However, he can't say when parts will be availible. I suspect for the first year or so they will simply sell them on their own store and corner the market and guys like me will be out of busines as many of you know I was mostly all Remington. I have been telling people I don't expect anything till mid summer or even fall so I have to stop saying that. I have absolutely no idea when we will see new Remington parts for sale. So if you are one of the ones in need keep checking www.remarms.com for updates.

At least now I can make some decisions and will most likely put my store in hibernation as I would have sell $3,000 gross to make enough in one month to even pay for the store. So I will close it down and make a decision in September. Put that $2K in short term CD's.

To the 4,000 plus guys that wiped me out of Remington parts last year I say thanks for the trust in confidence you showed in buying from me. You got new parts below MSRP and that little store did $364K gross last year because of you guys. Now the bad part. My store fees are based on me selling that amount and they won't lower the cost. So, I will be parking the store off line for the summer as I can't compete with the big boys on reqular accessories.

I am a trusting guy and the man I talked to seemed very trust worthy and he believes that they are doing all they can to get parts out to those of you needing them. Thanks and hope to see you back in the Fall.

Splithoof. No, I have been off the forums so don't know anything going on with Hans. Hope nothing has happened to him.

Well the good thing for them is they will no longer honor the lifetime warranty of anything prior to their acquisition. That will save them tons on repairs.

But they have already lost me as a customer as i got my rifle right before they sold and i am having minor issues.

As much as I used to be a fanboy of Remington, nowadays I stay away from them. I am not even hoping things will become better in the near future.

Buying a Remington is like buying cars from those defunct GM car divisions: Saturn, Pontiac, Oldsmobile.

Time for a divorce from Remington. It will sting for a while, but you will get over it with freedom. You can always "remarry" later if the relationship gets better but why stay in a miserable marriage to wait and see if it gets better?

I hate to see the hit your business has taken.

I've gotten some great service and deals from small business owners, who'll do stuff for you the big outfits won't do, so here's hoping you can "tough it out" and your business lands on it's feet.

I went into GunKats when they were still GunKats in Cerritos, I remember I had something small I needed to have done that I figured I'd pay $50.00 bucks for, when I come back, I reach for my wallet, and they "wave me off", telling me they'll catch me the next time.

Same thing w/this outfit that fixed my prescription specs, outfits over the phone quoted me quite a bit of money to fix the frames, I took it to these guys, and who said I was GTG, and they wouldn't think of taking money for doing nothing.

The small guy, the little guy, usually has more of a heart, even though they don't make the money that the big outfits make.
