    Price check

    LGS has

a 590 with ghost ring and mlok fore-end for 600
An stock synthetic 870 for 480ish
An 870 magpul “tactical” for 7-8ish

First of all, it’s cool that they’re in stock, with the big rush on guns lately, but just wanted to get your take on the price point. Seems pretty reasonable?

The 590 is reasonable and better finish than the 870.

Agreed. I also like the safety placement on the 500/590 series.

590 is my choice. But that's the capacity?

Prices are reasonable. I would take the 590 but I’m biased cause I’m ambidextrous. Remingtons are good guns also. Im just partial to the 590.

Another vote for the Mossberg 500 or 590 because of the location of the safety, on the back of the receiver were you can activate it either way ( from fire to safe or safe to fire) quickly and easily, by either hand with a short push from your thumb and you can see it easily with your eye, which is right next to it if you're aiming down the barrel.
I also prefer the location of Mossberg slide release / action release which is at the rear of the trigger guard, compared to Remington's slide release/action release button being in front of its trigger guard. That puts it further away from your hand.

Someone even makes this Mossberg slide release extender in case you like running a pistol grip and you have issues with it.

I'm not sure if any company makes a similar product or the Remington shotguns.

I like traditional stocks on shotguns so it wouldn't be something I would buy but if you like pistol grips and your hand can't reach it it's good to have the option.

It's true the Remington receiver is made out of steel and the Mossberg 500s and 590s are made out of aluminum alloy but that hasn't proved to be any issue with safety or durability in all these years.

My memory tells me that the Mossberg five hundreds were designed after the Remington 870 and it shows with its better design, in my opinion.

Choice A was about 500-ish pre Faucivirus iirc. So, not bad considering the times.
