    Benelli M 1 & M 2 compatibility?

Was wondering if anybody knew if you could install a M1 barrel into a M2 receiver or it there machine difference in there design/lockup ?? Have a M1 18" barrel lined up for a dirt cheap price and have a M2 hunting shotgun I want to drop it in . Thanks for any insight

If I'm not mistaken, the difference is in the handguard. I was able to put a M2 barrel on my M1, but I have not tried to put the M1 barrel on my M2 yet. I remember having to trim a little on the handguard, but that M1 has been fitted with wood stock/hand guard from a SBE1 anyway, so it's a bit of a freakshow.

If I remember correctly M2 barrels have a stop at the chamber end and the M1 does not.The stop is the ring at the chamber end that rests on the receiver.
