Spoken like a brand fanboy rather than a connoisseur of shotguns.

A Benelli O/U would prove to be a poor choice.

        I have a Franchi LAW12.

        I vote Franchi.

That was germane to the topic. OP is considering a Benelli auto to a Franchi O/U.

I saw that but you said something about a Benelli O/U being a poor choice. Whatever man...voicing my opinion based on my experiences.

Salesman told me it could be weeks until they get some in and couldn't provide an ETA of a new shipment.

They did have two shotguns that I was able to hold and mount. The first one being the Franchi Instinct (over/under) in 20 gauge. The next one was a Benelli Montefeltro in 12 gauge. Both felt great, but didn't know much about them so decided to hold off. The price difference is similar with the Franchi being $1100 and the Benelli being $999.

So which would you guys purchase?
Both are made by Benelli, so you can't go wrong with either... want smoother go Benelli, want more affordable go Franchi

You offer a compelling analysis between the 2 very different platforms.

OP...I'd compare a Browning Citori before i pulled the trigger.

Upgrade in price, but most would say an upgrade in quality. They're known to go 100's of 1000's of rounds and should you decide on something else if you get real competitive, they hold their value quite well.

Personally, I think the 12g are a little chunky (not really a bad thing on targets) where the Instinct is rather svelte. I do really like the 20g Citori in the field. Though this year I've mostly been shooting my old Browning B-80 in the pheasant field.

FWIW, I'm told the Instinct was made by Betensoli. Might want to check some reviews on shotgunworld.com
