    Extended chokes

I own a Beretta A300 12 gauge, with the flush mount mobil chokes.

Can I use an extended choke also? It would give me another inch of barrel length.

    Any info would be appreciated

    Thanks

Yes you can, no it doesn't extend the barrel. The only advantage to extended chokes is they're easier to change, than flush ones...

...oh, and they look cool too

yes you can use them but the only thing you will gain on an a300 is the coolness factor where as if you are using a break-open they add an additional layer of protection for when you inevitably bang the barrel on the ground

Easier to identify what constriction you have installed.

I'm going to get some extended chokes just for those two reasons, easier to change, and protection for the muzzle in the field. They sure are expensive little tubes though.

They have quite a range in price. Last I knew, Carlson was about the cheapest. Briley has mild to wild and (IMHO) the wild doesn't get you anything you'll see on the scorecard.

My target guns have mostly Muller featherlites.

My field guns are flush. I'm not changing chokes in the field and I can't say I've banged a muzzle.

It makes it easier to tell what choke you in the barrel and slightly easier to change quickly. I have a Beretta 1301 comp that I added a 2 inch choke so that it swings a little smoother with its 24 inch barrel, but the sight plane remains the same because the rib is not lengthened.

Extended chokes are easier to check for tightness as well. I find myself snugging them down after going through a box or two. Should it get stuck in there, removal would be easier as well.
