    Akdal MKA1919 Legality

Hello, I just read the flow chart 7 times but still slightly confused.

I have an MKA 1919 (ar style shotgun) that I purchased new circa 2015, it has

    bullet button
    pistol grip
    fixed stock
    magazine 10 round or less

Is this thing legal in this configuration? If not what am I missing? Perhaps a kydex grip wrap?

I just want to sell this thing, and before listing it or taking it into a shop I want to be sure it is safe to do so.

    Thanks

Not legal. It’s got a non-fixed magazine. PC30515 was amended so that “(7) A semiautomatic shotgun that does not have a fixed magazine,” is an assault weapon.

This is the confusing part. The flow chart states that a bullet button, which requires a "tool" to engage, makes it a "fixed magazine".

So is the flowchart outdated? Or am I misinterpreting that?

Semi auto shotgun with detachable magazine and pistol grip seems to make it illegal according to the flow chart
Even if you were to establish a fixed magazine it still has the pistol grip.

But according to the flow chart, with the bullet button, it is NOT a detachable magazine. It is considered "fixed" with a bullet button, or radlock, etc. etc. etc.

OP, you are one flow chart back. The new law in 2016 made the BB illegal. Now you have to "disassemble the action" in order to remove the magazine. Look for a Gen 2 BB or better yet, ditch the BB and go featureless.

Can't go featureless with the pistol grip.

Dang I was using the flow chart at the top of this forum! So there is a next gen BB?

Ok, to make it easy can I just install a shark fin on the grip and call it good?

That will make it a fixed stock, with shark fin on the grip, and a gen 1 bullet button. That should cover it I think.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. Going featureless means putting a grip wrap on it so that it no longer has a pistol grip. Should be just fin as long as there is no flash hider, forward PG etc.

still a semi auto shotgun with detachable mags. still an AW.

OP needs something simple like this; the MKA1919 gas port plug Install that and boom. It's no longer a semi and can have all the features you want.

Add one of these and remove the BB.

                          What a mess lol.

Theoretically I can just add the grip fin and be done with it correct? It would then be featureless.

The stock is fixed , and there is no forward grip.

Again, I just want to sell it and follow the easiest route to do so.

                          Thanks everyone for the information.

As long as it has a detachable magazine and is semi-automatic, it’s an assault weapon. No amount of deleting features will resolve that. Either make the magazine fixed, or make it not semi-automatic.

A pistol grip on a shotgun that does not have a collapsible stock or a folding stock is legal as long as the magazine is fixed and does not have a forward vertical grip. An MKA 1919 with a bullet button is considered to have a detachable magazine because using a tool to remove the magazine is no longer considered to be a fixed magazine. The MKA 1919 magazine must be either permanently attached to the gun or made to be removed only by dissembling the shotgun. The MKA 1919 cannot be made to work with a Hellfire button or any other type of button that cannot be activated unless the shotgun is disassembled.

Simply putting a fin will accomplish nothing as far as the law is concerned. So either you convert it manual operation or permanently attach the magazine to the body. You may be able to do this by plastic welding the magazine release button or riveting the button in place. Just be aware that if you do permanently attach the magazine I do not know how you would be able to load the magazine while it is place. I think that you would have a single shot shotgun that you could only load directly through the chamber

You currently have an unregistered assault weapon shotgun and I would take it apart and sell it out of state because there is no way to make it featureless.
