Going in to pick up a Mossberg on Monday

Won't be my first nor my last gun purchase, but this one stands out because it'll be my first purchase since hearing about that awful decision by Mossberg to fit some of their model 500's with Maverick 88 parts like the molded one-piece forearm.

I'm curious to hear your stories if you've bought one and found the 88 parts on it. The model I'm going to purchase is the 20" 7-shot, has anyone here bought one of these particular models and found anything out of the ordinary? I'm also curious if anyone knows of any method for being able to tell if the forend is the Maverick 88 piece without having to field strip the gun to see.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

I have the mossberg combo from big 5 that has the maverick 88 forearm. While it does feel loose when comparing to rem 870, it DOES function perfectly fine and well. I haven't had any problems with mine and mine has over 1k shells through it now
