Picking up my new Benelli M4 on Tuesday and I'm already searching the interweb for goodies (922r compliant stuff). Was looking into the FFT full length magazine tube and came across their warning/notice message on the bottom right corner...

"We have a TON of new tubes in production, but because of the Chinese Virus and everything associated with that, the January prediction on the next batch being ready is a prediction..."

Is that a bit racist or am I overly sensitive? Anyway, any recommendations on other USA companies that make full length magazine tubes for the M4? Thanks.

...as the virus was developed in China and developed by Chinese. You can call it anything you want but that doesn't change the location or the developer(s).

ATF notes that 922(r) doesn't and never did apply to end users like you or me...it always was and is applicable to importers. You are not the importer, obviously. There has never been a BATFE complaint in that situation.

The current Royal Tiger Imports was fined and shut down for a while...iirc for not replacing batches of imported gun parts with US parts. The owner changed the name from Inter Ordnance to Royal Tiger.

Infectious diseases throughout history have been named for geographic locations where they were thought to have originated: Spanish flu, West Nile virus, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, Zika and Ebola, to name a few.
By that logic, it may seem that there's nothing inherently wrong with referring to the novel coronavirus as the "Wuhan virus" or the "Chinese virus," language which President Donald Trump has used and defended using. Wuhan is, after all, considered the first epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak that has since become a global pandemic.

Why can't they just list the alloy? Sounds like cheap bicycle grade straight tube, not heat treated, and cheap anodized. Sounds like Ti-3 Al-2. 5V . It is the aluminum that allows it to be anodized.

But good on them for making it domestically and not in China.

Nope, did not start any rants about any GFOS. Don’t know what that is. As for the 922r thing, my local FFL (in San Mateo county) told me that if I wanted to modify the M4 to have a hold a full magazine tube, I’d need to change three parts listed as acceptable parts based on 922r. He seems to know what he’s talking about, so I’ll just take his advice.

As for the FFT racist statement part, hate language works subtlety. And I suppose if you’re questioning why it’s racist, it’s probably because you are, even if it’s a little bit.

First of all, gun stores are notorious for giving out bad info. NOTORIOUS!
Second, an article deciding Trump is racist for this is just silly.
Viruses have been named after where they originated for pretty much forever - it's just someone making up another reason to dislike or hate Trump. (as noted above, Spanish Flu) In addition - what do you think MERS stands for? Look it up!

Viruses have been named after where they originated for pretty much forever - it's just someone making up another reason to dislike or hate Trump. (as noted above, Spanish Flu) In addition - what do you think MERS stands for? Look it up!

Also, just because the naming of epidemics where done a certain way in the past doesn't make it the appropriate way of labeling things. Right? Something to think about. Or not.

Anyway, I sent a email to FFT, last night, saying it could be offensive to some and it was up to them what they wanted to do; free country and all. Todd replied this morning, agreed with me, and took down that "Chinese Virus" line on his website. He seems like a stand up guy. I no longer have issue with them. Their products look great.

I'll do business with them and order parts this month.

Nice recommendation on Nordic Components, but looks like their tubes only accommodate the Benelli M1 and M2.

Some people are determined to find racism. In anything. No need for that.
Would a certain kind of walnut, from Brazil, be named a Brazilian Walnut? Similar thing- that's where it came from. Chinese virus came from China originally. No racism involved. Middle East Respiratory Syndrome - came from the middle east. No racism.
If one is treated differently due to their race, that would be racism.
Lots of good shotgun parts around. Again, don't trust what the local gun store tells you unless you can verify it in at least a couple of other ways.

Only to a prog is the truth racist...COVID 19 originated in China, thus China flu is accurate and certainly not racist.
