    Saiga-12 stuck bolt problem

The bolt on my saiga-12 is stuck in the open position. The small metal button that is the manual bolt hold open has retracted up into the reciever and I can't see it anymore. This didn't happen during shooting but when I was at home and attempted to lock the bolt to the rear. Do you guys know anything about how to fix this? Anyone in the SD area able to help (+compensation)?

Wish I was closer... I could fix her up.

Is your safety all the way down? Can you take her apart at all?

The thing with this design is it is pretty bullit proof, you should be able to knock her around a bit (rough her up) and see if you can get it to move forward.

I can't push the button on the back of the reciever to take the dust cover off. It is still and will not depress at all

try pulling back on the handle and riding it forward a bit forcefully. Also check the extractor on the bolt and make sure it is in the right position.

I tried pulling back and then forcing it forward with no luck. The extractor is in the corrent position and I shot 100 rounds throught it right before it happened

Ok you might need to go midevil on it. Smack the butt of the rifle on the floor. Hopefully you do this while it's unloaded.

go search on www.saiga12.com on the forums for an issue you have..I am SURE it has been covered on that forum. must be pretty rare, never personally heard of this. Mine is an early model with no BHO, I modded the safety lever to act as one...then again I have a 2 stage trigger and 3 lb letoff also----GREAT shotguns....

well, that would be why it is the most used design on the planet.

                      Exactly what I was thinking.

But the usually-exposed tab of the BHO lever is all the way up in the receiver? And the bolt is at the very end of it's available rearward travel?

Yes the usually expopsed tab is all the way up inside the reciever, I can't even see it. And the bolt is stuck at the very end of available rearward travel.

well, we see this once in a while.

What seems to be happening, is the "loop" of the spring for the BHO come out from under its resting place, and actually nudges the top of the BHO over, so as to come into contact with the bolt. Further, the BHO then overtravels, thus putting the button up into your receiver.

You can usually use a pick of some type to pull the tab over, and grab it with a pair of small needlenose, then take the gun apart and pop the spring back under the right rail.

As was said, a few guys on the saiga forums have gone into more detail about this, and if you just cant get it, feel free to contact us to have your gun shipped round trip and warranty serviced free of charge.

what I was trying to do is coaxing the BHO lever down from the inside of the receiver. Be sure the tab is still lined up with the BHO hole.
but there appears to be a spring or wire which is blocking the BHO hole so that the tab cannot exit the reciever.

Your spring came off the BHO, is what it sounds like. This happens rarely.

Get a pick in there, and tell that sucker who is boss. Im just warning you, it is a serious pain in the $%% getting the spring back on the mounting points it is supposed to be on, once you get the BHO dropped back into place.

If you cant get it, as I said, we do warranty work free of charge for the importer. You might need the spring bent a little bit once the BHO is back in place, as it is. Some of them appear to be reversed, and they are touchy little parts, for an AK pattern firearm, to be honest.
